Per multiple league sources, the Cleveland Browns nearly pulled off a trade with the 49ers for the rights to coach Jim Harbaugh. A deal that would have sent multiple draft picks to San Francisco was in place between the teams. But Harbaugh ultimately decided not to leave the 49ers. Source: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/02/21/sources-browns-nearly-traded-for-jim-harbaugh/ Wait, did the 49ers say yes?
as hot headed as harbaugh is,it is a wonder he did not leave the 49ers and build up the browns like he has the 49ers. my question to the 49ers is why would they ever want to trade him in the 1st place? He is the 49ers best coach since walsh, and it would be really hard to replace him,in my view.
Reading some of the comments on Walnuts' posted link and found this gem lol... "Florio messed up a crucial part of the story. The Browns were simply trying to acquire a quarterback that was younger than Brandon Weeden."
The Niners Front Office isn't super crazy about Harbaugh...even with the "wins" and the feeling is mutual. Harbaugh wanted a contract extension before 2013 and didn't get it...well he didn't get what he thought he deserved...
There is more to this story. The relationship between the front office and Harbaugh is strained. http://tireball.com/nfl/2014/02/24/...ce/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

3 NFC championship appearances and a Superbowl appearance and they sound like they are about to implode already.
The bucs traded several draft picks to the Raiders for Jon Gruden. Then they won the Super Bowl. So it's not unheard of.
1969 - Don Shula for a first round pick. 1997 - Bill Parcells to the New York Jets for a third and fourth round pick in 97, second in 98, and first in 99. 2000 - Jets trade Bill Belichick for a first round pick to the Pats. 2006 - Herm Edwards from the Jets to Chiefs for fourth round pick.
