All avatars, scripts, images, sprites, styles etc are now being hosted on a CDN (Content delivery network). What does this mean? Our forum should be much faster, not that is was slow before. Looks like we shaved off about 1 second, on average. Page load times are around 2.5 seconds as compared to 4 seconds before the CDN was integrated. How CDNs work, they download the files from our forum and put those files on servers closer to the users. This takes load off our server and makes the file download for the users faster. Win win! Should anyone notice issues, or just want to say how much you like a faster website, please do so =)
Use to have a thread that was nothing but funny .gifs. It would take forever for that thread to load. It would be interesting to see how it would load now with the new host. @86WARD, @Mike or @smeags .... do you know if SRW deleted that thread or possibly archived it?
I agree but those ads make these upgrades possible. They are easy to ignore and are easy to focus on too. Try to use the 1st and ignore them
And when I look at forums across the internet, they're laced with about 3/5 ads per page.. here, you have ONE. Keep it in perspective dudes
ya man this thread was about MAXCDN as an improvement for our forum and it turned into the "hey man that one ad sucks thread".
Gotcha. I've only used a PC or wired laptop on GIF/FK and both with Windows and AdBlock Plus disabled on GIF/FK and have only seen one banner ad and that was located near the top of the screen. Maybe the OS's used on Smartphones other than Windows?
The freaking ads have always been on here. I replaced them with one that so far is performing better. Try not being so obtuse and accept the simple fact that websites cost money and ads are a part of it.
