My biggest issue with the Eagles is that I love the coach. I honestly do, I followed him when I lived in Eugene and I believe I told Greg and Kurt (when it was obvious that Reid would be fired) that he would fit very well with the Eagles. I think Chip Kelly will go down as a great coach, he needs 2 or 3 more years to really prove his worht
Next year will say a lot about how good of a coach Kelly is. The NFL has a whole season of film on him now. He needs to prove that he can stay a step ahead of defenses as he starts to get his type of players in.
Believe me offensively he will always be one step ahead. Look at some film from the Ducks. They have some of the most entertaining football in college. (I know this is the NFL but still) I do worry about Foles. (I am sure he is a good QB I just don't think he is the QB that Kelly wanted, RG3 is)
If it's anything like my Saints he's got two or three years and then he must do a complete redefine.. like you implied.. a team can only do the same thing for so long until teams start shutting it down. AKA the Saints screen game and deep ball play calling are DUN - but I know not to talk about the Saints around Eagles fans.. I might get spit in the face.
I don't think he wants a scrambling QB in the NFL. They don't last. It's fine for college, but not long term in the NFL. That's why he didn't take Manziel. Foles is his guy.
IF for any reason something goes wrong this year... I can see him making a leap to grab Mariota... he was the one who pushed Mariota to stay with the Ducks for one more year... (GREAT Decision by the way)
