The Oakland Raiders named Tony Sparano their interim head coach Tuesday less than 24 hours after firing Dennis Allen.

Sparano, who previously had served as Oakland's assistant head coach/offensive line, and Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie will address the move at a 5 p.m. ET news conference.

"Tony Sparano has a strong presence in this organization," McKenzie said in a statement released by the team. "His experience and leadership qualities will serve the team well in helping reach the goal of everyone here, which is to win football games."

Allen, 42, was 8-28 as Oakland's coach. He was fired after the Raiders, who retooled their roster this past offseason, suffered an embarrassing 38-14 loss Sunday to the Miami Dolphins in London, dropping their record to 0-4.

Fricking big huge space in between the paragraphs lol :dunno:

Do the Raiders really thing Sparano is a step up from Allen based on his track record?

Brady Hoke might be available after this season.

This, it's a lost season, upgrading now wasn't the impetus for the firing. He'll probably go hard after Gruden right now and if he can't get him or some other splashy unemployed guy, pursue other options in the offseason.

The Raiders should be interviewing and hiring a new front office starting now. For f--k sake, bring Bill Polian in...he's sitting around doing nothing and he'd be better than anyone they've had in centuries...lol.

Built winners in Canada, in Buffalo, in Carolina, in Indy...
