After watching that I can honestly say that if Cutler was offered to the Cards free of charge I'd pass. I'd rather have 3rd and 4th string QB's taking the snaps vs. that overpaid below average QB. The Bears franchise makes the Jags and Raiders look like IBM and Exxon.
Safe to assume the GM and Trestman will be history, but will the Bears have the balls to draft a QB with their 1st pick (6th pick if nothing changes) next year and possibly eat Cutler's salary while he carries a clipboard. Should they let him go, props to them.
I don't think they would keep him to carry a clipboard. They would find someone with lots of cap room and a desperate need for a QB to take on the contract.
I don't think any team is that desperate. Cutler has proven to be a very average QB regardless of his perceived skill-set. Cutler's monetary baggage is nothing more than the result of the Bears HOPING he'd produce returns. I think he'll start, but the results will be nearly the same as previous years....suckism. I feel bad for Matt Forte.
Eh, I disagree. There are always teams that are desperate for a qb. And the qb position is so important in this league, teams are always willing to take a chance on someone if they are in a real bind. If a g.m./coach are on their last chance season before getting fired and their choice is to go with an unproven rookie in their last season or a veteran who has at times had success, they are usually going to go with the veteran. Don't get me wrong. I'm not personally a huge cutler fan, but if he stays healthy the last 2 games, he will exceed 4,000 yards and 30 td's this season. His numbers and physical skills are something that a team that is struggling to find a qb can have trouble passing up, regardless of contract.
I heard someone this morning comparing cutler to Jeff George. That's probably a good comparison. Several teams gave George a chance and he played in this league way longer than he should have. The same will probably happen with cutler
Cutler to the Raiders sounds like a match made in heaven. Probably won't happen since Carr has shown some promise, but you never know...
Yep, I think the Raiders are happy with what Carr has shown. I've heard tampa, Tennessee, or staying in Chicago under a new head coach all suggested. I would throw st louis, buffalo, and the Jets into the mix too.
Good call on the Rams and Bills. They definitely are a QB away from being really good teams. Gonna be fun to see how Cutler handles being benched this weekend.
I like that you omitted the Jets from being a QB away from being good. I've never liked Rex and will shed no tears when he gets fired.
Wish I could say it was an oversight. And Rex....yeah, he's toast. If not next year then the year after he'll be a DC somewhere. Who dat?
