So...does anyone have any ideas on a recruitment drive and/or contest? I am not shelling out cash anymore for these especially since they have gone totally ignored in the past.

Go to your local stadium and put flyers on cars. It's kind of cheesy and old school, not to mention time consuming, but it works. The webamaster of another board that I was a former member of did that incessantly and it worked, it's now one of the most popular fanboards for that team. SRW would probably have to come up with a template for whoever wanted to do it to use, then we could download it, print up flyers and get to work. Maybe have some kind of "referral code" on the flyers to use when signing up so you could track the effectiveness of the program and even which member put up the flyer.
I know, it's a lot of work, and most people would not be down to spend the time doing it, but I bet it would work. If you could get one person at one stadium to put out say, 2000 flyers, that would probably get at minimum 1-200 people (guess?) to check out the site, hopefully some from both teams playing that day. Get a couple 3-4 people in a few different cities, et voila!
