Do any of you like this show? I don't, because i can't stand Steve Young. No offense, but he's a freaking tool, when it comes to football knowledge.
OK....if my options are Steve Young or......Joe Theisman or Sean Salisbury.....I'll take Young any day. The one who drives me a little nuts is Tony Cornheiser. If he's supposed to be a new version of Howard Cosell......well....bring Back Cosell please. I love Tony on PTI but hate him on MNF.
First off, its Tony Kornheiser. He's been a writer for the Washington Post since the late 70's. He's done local radio here in the DC area off and on for 15 years. He and Wilbon have also appeared on local sports shows since the late 80's together. Kornheiser's radio show was great, he and Wilbon do a terrific job on PTI b/c they're best friends and the chemistry really comes thru. The problems with Tony Kornheiser in the MNF booth is that he can't accomodate his humor smoothly. Tirico and Jaws do a great job and Tony is best when he tries not to go overboard w/ a funny comment. He ends up sounding like Dennis Miller, just slightly more relevant. If Tony can seemlessly work his personality into the broadcast, then he'll be a great addition.
Tony Kornheiser on MNF just doesn't work. He plainly and simply just lacks football knowledge. I'll admit that he's gotten better though. Anyone else thinks Emmit Smith sucks on ESPN? Dude stumbles on every sentence.
I actually think Tony has been more bearable this year and when they discuss happenings around the NFL, he comes into his own. When the game is on, he just needs to take a back seat and let Jaws do his thing (like Jaws a lot as an analyst).
Jaws only has one problem.....his blatant bias for the iggles. I know he played for them but damn he needs to tone it down a notch.
My apologies for not correctly spelling Tony's last name and I also didn't know his entire career.....but that does not change my opinion on his performance on mnf. Great on PTI but weak on MNF....sorry....no cohesiveness to let his humor flow.
