- You have the ball - It's 3rd and 3 - You're at the enemies' 30 yard line - 3 minutes remain - You're down by 3 - If you gain nothing on the next play your field goal attempt will be for 47 yards. - It's the Super Bowl What would YOU do coach??? What offensive play would you call coach???
Short pbutt. You really need another first down for a field goal, and a short pass is hard to defend against. A lot of play actions are run with this type of scenario. With the time left, you really want the touchdown,so play with that goal. Otherwise opponent can drive down, and kick field goal for the winner.
I pretty much agree with this. Of course, not knowing who your players and strengths are, it's tough to make a decision.
Who's my QB? If he has any mobility (and my running back has the ability to push for 3 yds) I'd like to go play action and role out. If not then a quick, 3-step drop to a tight end.
Let the QB decide. I would basically call two plays, and let the QB decide which of the two will work best against the defensive alignment when he breaks the huddle.
It would depend on the personnel I had but my first choice would be a short pass (quick slant or hook to the TE. If that fails you have little choice but to go fo the FG.
I'd look up, realizing... i don't know how much I'm down by, Or if I'm Leading... Can I get a score???
Razzle Dazzle play....Randle El on an end around pass to Hines Ward in the End zone....silly people...td all the way!!!!
Kind of what I was thinking, either need to add several more choices or just "none of the above". I would roll Cutler out, naked bootleg, 4 receivers in patterns and let him decide when he gets out there to either pass, run or throw it away. It is only 3rd down, and a gimme for the kicker, so do we want to tie or win, depending on what happens here and what we have seen the rest of the day.
A nice Play Action in Goal Line Formation (Three TE's, FB & HB) with a short throw to one of the Tight Ends.
