I do not support Rivers playing with his injury... And I wouldn't even if I were a Bolts fan. Why? He jeopardized both the game and his career. The game because his pocket presence was altered greatly and his throws weren't the best we've seen from him. His career because he entered that game with a PARTIALLY ACL, and left with a completely torn one, and now he'll be down for six months... Sure, he has guts, but it doesn't make up for his lack of brains... after all, Volek did manage to beat Indy.
Rivers really only had 1 really bad throw, the first INT should of been caught by Chambers, but Asante took it from him. Volek sucks, he had 1 good series this season and everyone thinks he's good just because it was against the Colts. When Rivers got hurt against the Titans Volek came in for 1 drive and threw an INT on his 2nd pbutt. I barely even trusted the guy to hand off the ball in blow outs (he did fumble it against Denver). The problem with Volek is he's turnover prone and that'd be a disaster against the Patriots.
Screw Rivers. dumb piece of crap and not to mention hes selfish. He should learn from LT and sit the game out and give your team a chance to win. @ Philip Rivers
Sure, I see your point, but I'd still rather have my 2nd string QB start at 100%, specially if there is a possibility of my first stringer to worsen his injury. From my very particular point of view, that was a lost game one way or the other (because ok, maybe Phillip Rivers would have been able to beat the Pats, but playing injured lowered that possibility), so why risk my franchise QB? Ok, ok, change it to "Volek did manage to NOT LOSE against Indy". Btw, does you responding to that particular part of my post mean that you have nothing to say about the rest of it?
Making it to the AFC Championship isn't a forgone conclusion in the future, you have a shot to make it the SB, Rivers was able to play and he did, it's not like he had to run around all game. It'd be one thing if the Chargers had a good backup QB (like they had a good backup RB) then yea he should have sat, with Rivers even injured the Chargers had a chance to win, they even had the opportunities but blew them by getting FGs instead of TDs, with Volek I just don't see any way they would of won that game.
True, but look at how it turned out... I dunno, I'm just not convinced... sure, there was no way they would know they'd lose, and you have to send the appropriate message out there, but what the hell. At least there could be other good QBs in San Diego's future.
It doesn't matter now cause the game is over. It's hard to say if Volek was put in the game that we'd be more successful. If I knew Rivers personally... I'd say that he's freaking nuts! I guess nobody is gonna acuse him of being a cat, right? LOL
Too bad Tomlinson the little man didn't learn a thing. That's the thing I hate about a game, had that X player been healthy or in the game, big difference. Had the Y factor in bad officating didn't take place, great game. Course if there was a Z factor, it could've been like Arena football as New England scored, then San Diego and it could've been a high scoring affair.
OMG...what an idiot :icon_eek: You know, genius...if my grandma had wheels, she'd be a freakin' bycicle, right?!?! Please...pretty please. Stop quoting his idiotic messages.
Don't count genius as a worth reading contributor, though. And stop quoting him, That make us read his crap.
How many times do I have to say this to you? Are Charger fans this ignorant on purpose? BILLY VOLEK LED THE GAME-WINNING DRIVE. Thus, he DID win the game for San Diego. Could Charlie Whitehurst have led that winning drive? Could Philip Rivers on one leg have done it? I highly doubt it on both counts, but especially the first.
