I'm in a keeper league this season. We get to keep two players on our roster that was drafted AFTER the 3rd round...so 4 and on. The two players will count towards this years draft at whatever round you picked them last season. I have Santonio Holmes that I drafted in Round 6. If I keep him, he is my 6th round pick this year. What two would you keep? Plaxico Burress - Round 5 or 6 Jamal Lewis - Round 5 or 6 ( I got Leiws in a trade last season and he was the same round as Burress.) Santonio Holmes - Round 6 Michael Turner - Round 7 Chris Cooley - Round 8 Eli Manning - Round 11 I also have a trade offer to me on the table for Santonio Holmes. In return, I would get Wes Welker (who was a free agent pick up and would count as a 10th round pick.)
I think I'd do the trade for Welker. 10th rd pick for him is excellent value. The other keeper to me has to be a RB, either Lewis ot Turner, I think I'd lean towards Turner for a 7th. Atlanta sucks but I think he'll give you decent return there at 7.
I should say, that we only need to start one RB. We can go Run and Shoot with one RB and 3 WR. So I'm thinking that Plaxico Burress could be my #1 keeper and then possibly Holmes (or Welker), or Jamal Lewis. If I keep Lewis, I could load up on 2 Killer WR with my first and second pick, say Reggie Wayne and Steve Smith and then take a lesser RB with my third pick. That would give me #1 WR - Wayne #2 WR - Smith #3 WR - Burress RB - Jamal Lewis and 3rd Round RB - maybe an Earnest Graham type...
I guess it really depends on scoring with the 3wr one rb to me. If you get PPC for a RB then I would not hold on to Lewis if you only get a PPR for WR then I would go Plax and Holmes. Holmes is going to come into his own here now having time under his belt I am not sure Welker will put up the same numbers. I could answer this a little better with some scoring info.
No Points Per Reception...HOWEVER we get bonus points (of 5) if your receiver catches 10 balls in a game. So for a guy like Burress or Smith or Wayne, that helps a lot. I would go with Holmes and Wayne then if this is the case. Holmes is going to be the guy stretching the field even when Ward decides to go because Sweed will be the short yardage guy I think. With the + you get on length of TD's I think these 2 are huge for you this coming year. Cooley to me is going to have a down year I think this season.
Wayne? You mean Burress? I agree about Cooley. With all the new receivers and the new offense installed, I just don't see him being as money as he was last year. However, he'll still be servicable, but someone will draft him too early thinking he's going to put up Witten numbers...
Sorry yes I meant Burress. A lot of people are high on cooley which from last years numbers I can see but they are moving systems big time and Campbell needs to learn another system who knows how he will even take it let alone get the ball to cooley in a 3-4 wr set offense
I think you have to go with Burress & Holmes on this one. However I do think you give some consideration to Turner in the 7th round. He should be the primary back in their offense, but his durability and the Falcons offensive line are both question marks. That's pretty cool the way you guys do your keeper though.
