We have a modification in place that allows us to post videos into threads easily. It's the AME - Auto Media Embedding modification that's found over on vbulletin.org. So what does AME do? AME scans new and edited posts for pre-defined patterns of URLs (i.e. youtube's). If it finds a match, it swaps the url tag for an ame tag. All you have to worry about is post the page url the video is on and AME does all the rest. Now this won't work for every site and sometimes the site codes need to be updated so if you notice a site code that isn't working then please let me know. So, you post the page URL: PHP: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1xwjl_mac-vs-pc-south-park-style_creation It will give you this: [ame="http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1xwjl_mac-vs-pc-south-park-style_creation"]Dailymotion - Mac vs. PC South Park Style, a video from tokyopunk. mac, pc, south, park@@AMEPARAM@@http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/x1xwjl@@AMEPARAM@@x1xwjl[/ame] These are the sites that are currently supported: Video 5min Life Videopedia Adult Swim AOL Music Atom Films Bebo (Does not embed most recent KateModern videos.) this new coding system kicks freaking BUTT! nice to have a very simple way to post vids now, so hopefully people will feel more comfortable now posting in the forum. thanks again, Steve!
Does that [MEDIA] code even work? I tried and it didn't work for me. That's too bad, because it doesn't look like certain sites (including YouTube) don't let you embed anymore.
That's what I've been doing, but lately it hasn't been working. EXAMPLE: [ame="http://youtube.com/watch?v=Eket0S0MrHc"]YouTube - Madden NFL 09 Gameplay Footage (Gamespot)[/ame] Nevermind... :icon_cheesygrin: Just so you know, it didn't work for me yesterday in 'Viral Videos'.
You know...I should unsticky this thread since this is obselete. We did away with the "AnyMedia" modification that used the [media] tags some time ago and are now just using the "AME - Auto Media Embedding" modification. What I like about the new one is all you have to post is the page url of the video and the site will automatically convert the video. The only drawback is that sometimes some sites change their embed codes so this needs to be constantly updated. The AnyMedia mod wasn't updated all the time while this new one is. Ok....first post updated now!
