My Preseason Thoughts Thus Far

- Spears is looking like a freaking beast

- Austin could be starting sometime this season, the way he was playing, he could have been the #2 week 1.

-Im kinda worried about or 2nd team OL. Especially now with Koiser hurt

- It would have been nice to know a little something about Stanback as a WR. But at least Austin is looking like a baller

- The Defense looked dominate early in the Houston. This is the first time in years that we are deep in every area of the defence, however.....

-I still think we are limited without dominants in the middle. With Ratliff and Johnson were are solid, but not on that next level. At 315, I wouyld like to see Spears play there more

- Danny Amendola is a freaking scrub. Please detach from his nuts Cowboy fans

- Felix Jones is not Julia Jones

- Why the heck isnt Felix returning kick's?

- Adam Jones could start by week 1 IMO

- Owen Daniels was pretty freaking open there Roy

- Martellus Bennet is gonna be a weapon

- Orlando Scandrick is goin to be our best pick in the draft

- KR coverage units and Nick Folk (on KO's) needs to unheck themselves

-it is Bobby's year

i dont think Carpenter is gonna make it man

 

Im not quite "penciling him in" but I think he is gonna be a part of the defence.

I like Zack Thomas, but I dont want him taking the abuse of a 3-4 ILB every down for 16 games, and Burnett is just a coverage backer in our D. They need to get Bobby on the field this year

 

Bobby gets on the field, but thats just about it. I keep pulling for him, but Bobby is becoming the new JuJones of this team. We keep hoping he puts it together and nothing really happens.

I'm hoping that Stanback shoulder isnt serious, I think that kid has the potential to be a serious return threat on kickoffs

 

I like the juice I saw from him last night

Would have like to see more from him at WR tho, but Im extremely happy with the strides austin has made. Alot of people dont realize that in terms of "mesurables" the guy grades out with first round WR's

 

Ive got faith in Hurd and Austin.

I was extremly impressed with Craytons play. To me, it seems like he really wanted to, and wanted to make things happen for once.

 

Ya, he has looked much more like a legit starter than last year. Last year he looked more like a misplaced slot WR that needed creative matchups to produce

 

The only cowboys preseason game i watched was the broncos and the first defense looked bad. They let cutler go 12 for his first 12. There were alot of penaltys. TO looked pretty good for the short time he played though.

 

They completely owned the Texans passing game early last night. The run D was hit and miss, but we were in Shaubs face all night

Poor Texans fans thought they may have robbed the Cowboys of a starting CB

 

ill always tip my hat to Reeves, he was always outclassed but he never quit

 

And no one gave up a key third down conversion with as much grace and class

 

I suspect Jones isn't returning kicks because they want to save it for the season. Why show it now, they know he can do it. Special teams often look shaky in pre-season because it's a mix of regulars, scrubs and rookies.

I do agree about your second team OL, your starters are solid but depth is an unknown.

 

The reason the D looked so bad agains the Broncos, from the glimpses of the game I saw, is because they were dropping D-Ware back to coverage A LOT. Of course, the realized that experiment wasn't going to cut it, and decided to bring him back to rushing the QB...I mean, what were they thinking? :icon_confused:

 

DWare has the ability to cover, but I prefer him to pass rush

 

My take on the WR situation

Since two of our 5 lock's are going to miss the opening of the season, and Austin a couple of games at least. I beleieve we should look into a veteren cut to fill the position as opposed to scrubs like Jefferson and Amendola. No one big, mabey just a cat like Terrence Copper or Malcolm Floyd, a marginal 4th/5th WR type that has at least logged some time in the NFL and wont heck up routes if we have to play them

And I would like to keep Lowbar on the PS. He's got talent, could be another Miles Austin. He just needs to develope
