Updating his report/speculation that the Lions could be shopping quarterback Jon Kitna, Tom Kowalski of Mlive.com reports that the 49ers arent interested in a Kitna-Mike Martz reunion. There also is speculation linking Kitna to the Cowboys, along with speculation of a package deal that would send Kitna and receiver Roy Williams to Dallas for tackle Flozell Adams and a first-round pick. wow... I'm a huge Roy Williams fan. But im not sure what to make of this if its true. I guess Free would get his shot at LT. I mean it would make sense, it would suck losing the first round pick but oh well. I highly doubt it happens...
Didn't we just sign Flo to an extension? Wouldn't trading him would be just like shooting ourselves in the foot with that cap hit? :fool:
Kitna's a good qb stuck in a bad situation. He shows flashes and then it gets shut down. He had it at Cincy and they gave the job to Palmer. He showed it in Detroit and then poof...gone. He's gonna be a back up again soon but I feel bad for him because he's better than the Trent Dilfers and Brad Johnsons of the world.
Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer have something that Kitna doesnt.... RINGS snitch the RINGS! I don't mind Kitna though, put him behind a good OL and he'll put up some good numbers. This trade rumor is just more BS from PFT. They have nothing better to do today than to make up some Dallas bs.
My point was he's that kind of qb. Not a superstar but one who could win it all in the right situation. I still think Cincy made a mistake starting Palmer and getting rid of Kitna when they did. If Kitna had been on Baltimore or Tampa Bay he would have a ring also.
Me too... Kitna was absolutely tearing crap up at one point with Cinci then out of nowhere they decided to give up on him and go with Palmer "The Future".
Kitna has no upside. He's certainly a capable player, but he's not going to help turn this season into a playoff year. I can't see him being much better than what we have anyway. Our problem isn't the offense this year, it's the horrible coaching decisions during the game, and our weak-ass defensive scheme. I really wish they would have made a big push for a huge NT, even if it wasn't a starter on another team. We need size and attitude on our D line. We need someone big enough to walk up to the coach on the sideline and pile-drive him the first time he calls for the "big sub" package. Kitna's career will be defined by his erratic play, most of which wasn't his fault. Martz brings that out in his qbs for some reason.
I agree that Kitna has no place with the Niners. He isn't the one to "turn" them around. He had his moments but isn't the stud qb to take over a team like the Niners. If he could do that he would have done it for the Lions.
