"I want to see who is the highest bidder," he said, making clear that he had no pre-bidding favorites besides those with deep pockets. Ramirez reportedly is looking for a 5-year deal, the Dodgers are said to want to sign him to a 3-year deal. Of course, given his performance since coming over to the Dodgers he might

Maybe the Rangers give big money up for him, like when we got A-Rod... However that set us back about 5 years, in fact I still think we're paying some of his contract.

I remember when Manny said that he will stay in LA until the end of his career.

He left Boston on bad terms. He would become public enemy #1 in Boston if he signs with the Yankees.

there are only a few teams that can afford him but the yankees will not be one of them. peter gammons said the giants, dodgers and "phillies" are three teams that will be in the running in his opinion.

i don't like manny because of what he pulled on boston but my god man, this line-up would be sick.

    rollins
    victorino
    utley
    howard
    manny
    werth
    feliz
    ruiz

howard would see so many more fastballs with manny behind him. but it's a longshot and right now as a phillies fan i have other priorities.

That would be awesome! But can do we have enough money to sign Manny?

he said if the phils could get him for $16-$18mil they would probably try it because they paid burrell $14mil anyway but the issue is will he be offered $20mil elsewhere ? plus he wants 5yrs at 37yrs old.

it's a pipe dream for sure but man, if he gave it his all this line-up would be disgusting.

I don't want him either, but if we got him, no way could we bat him 5th. You can't waste someone who's that good and getting paid that much as protection for Howard while he's only protected by a player who can be shutdown by any righty with a pulse.

The lineup would have to be:

    Rollins
    Utley
    Manny
    Howard
    Victorino
    Werth
    Feliz/Dobbs
    Ruiz/Marson (wishful thinking)

This is totally a pipe dream though. I refuse to get my hopes up for landing Manny. Plus as smeagle stated, we have other priorities at the moment.

I hope Manny takes the money and then toils in mediocrity in San Francisco or somewhere like that. Or better yet, sign in New York and see mediocrity first hand!:fly sticker:

that was my first thought as well but howard needs protection as your clean-up hitter and to me manny needs no protection at all. the only way you can stop him is to walk him. i have to agree though that victorino would probably help out there behind howard plus we'd have more balance with the first six batters going S, L, R, L, S, R, R, R.

heck that would be a sick line-up.

it would be a sick butt lineup, when manny isn't out for an injury to his knee or back or whatever. I'll pass

Like that Damon guy, who despite having helped us win a World Series, will forever be tolerated at best in these parts. I'd rather meet Johnny Pesky.

I don't know if Burrell would remain with us but picking up Manny would concern me cause of his attitude. It'd be like have T.O. on the Eagles, imo. Plus I'm not interested in having him for 3 yrs let alone 5.

I'm wondering if Manny's antics about getting outta Boston will have any affect on his going elsewhere.
Going to be an exciting off-season in the free agent market!
