6-4, 4-6...means absolutely nothing right now. Both the Colts and Patriots are heating up. Ravens have a tough schedule ahead. Steelers have a tough schedule ahead. It's a little more wide-open than you think and there's a very good chance that only one of the AFC North teams make the playoffs. There's 6 weeks left. A lot can happen in 6 weeks...
Here are the current standings. AFC: 1. Titans – 10-0, home field advantage, first round bye, division winner 2. Steelers – 7-3, first round bye, division winner 3. Jets – 7-3, division winner, wildcard #1 4. Broncos – 6-4, division winner, wildcard #2 5. Colts – 6-4, wildcard #3 6. Ravens – 6-4 wildcard #4 7. Dolphins – 6-4, miss playoffs 8. Patriots – 6-4, miss playoffs 9. Bills – 5-4, miss playoffs 10. Chargers – 4-6, miss playoffs 11. Jaguars – 4-6, miss playoffs 12. Browns – 3-6, miss playoffs 13. Texans – 3-7, miss playoffs 14. Raiders – 2-8, miss playoffs 15. Bengals – 1-8-1, miss playoffs 16. Chiefs – 1-9, miss playoffs NFC: 1. Giants – 9-1, home field advantage, first round bye, division winner 2. Panthers – 8-2, first round bye, division winner 3. Cardinals – 7-3, division winner, wildcard #1 4. Packers – 5-5, division winner, wildcard #2 5. Buccaneers – 7-3, wildcard #3 6. Redskins – 6-4, wildcard #4 7. Falcons – 6-4, miss playoffs 8. Cowboys – 6-4, miss playoffs 9. Eagles – 5-4-1, miss playoffs 10. Bears – 5-5, miss playoffs 11. Vikings – 5-5, miss playoffs 12. Saints – 5-5, miss playoffs 13. 49ers – 3-7, miss playoffs 14. Seahawks – 2-8, miss playoffs 15. Rams – 2-8, miss playoffs 16. Lions – 0-10, miss playoffs note: According to NFL tie-breaking procedures, the Redskins are above the Cowboys, who are behind the Falcons, who are behind the Redskins. In other words, in the standings, Redskins > Falcons > Cowboys. It goes to like the fourth tie-breaker. and btw if the bills win tomorrow night they'd be behind the Colts, Ravens, Dolphins, and Patriots in the standings b/c they didn't play the Colts or Ravens and lost to the Dolphins and Patriots. btw this is all just how it stands RIGHT NOW, but I doubt the Chargers could edge out the Dolphins, Ravens, Patriots, Colts, and Bills, who are all ahead of them in the standings by at least a game in a half. And also the Jaguars, who are also 4-6. ya know it's pretty remarkable that we're even talking about the Pats, Chargers and Colts COMPETING for a WILDCARD spot after week 11, and that the Dolphins are even in this discussion AT ALL.
only you don't care about math it seems I said in the first post that it's not likely to happen but doesn't mean they are locked out of the playoffs, please go to any NFL site that says the Bengals are officially knocked out of the playoffs. and you fail to not respond to my question as to "you do know that there is only 2 Wild Card spots"
Atleast the eagles arent totally out of the playoff picture we beat the falcons and still play the boys and skins. Not optomistic about our chances but atleast were not out.
How I see it: NFC North: 1. Bears 2. Packers 3. Vikings 4. Oilers 5. Lions NFC South: 1. Carolina 2. Atlanta 3. Tampa 4. New Orleans NFC East: 1. New York 2. Washington 3. Dallas 4. Philadelphia NFC West: 1. Arizona 2. San Francisco 3. Seattle 4. St. Louis WILDCARD: Atlanta/Tampa (whoever places 2nd), Washington AFC North: 1. Pittsburgh 2. Baltimore 3. Cleveland 4. Cincinatti AFC South: 1. Tennessee 2. Indianapolis 3. Jacksonville 4. Houston AFC East: 1. Miami (Sleeper, I'm calling it) 2. New England 3. New York Jets 4. Buffalo AFC West: 1. Denver 2. San Diego 3. Kansas City (will win two more games this season) 4. Oakland WILDCARD: New England, Indianapolis The whole NFC South seems to be inconsistent, the only teams that have an identity are Atlanta and Tampa. Carolina has been bad the past two weeks, lucky for them that they played Oakland and Detroit, I STILL think Atlanta can win the division, if they win the rest of their divisional games (all at home except the New Orleans rematch). I'm calling Miami to win the AFC east only because they are in a prime position to take it. They're 6-4 and face the Patriots next, and the Jets afterward (I believe), win those two and they're in first by 2-games.
If the Colts beat the Chargers this week, they've pretty much locked up the Wild Card pending any form of self-destruction. They'll have the head to head tie-breaker over the Chargers, Patriots, Ravens. They've defeated them all. Currently they have a better conference record than the Dolphins.
like you said anything could happen with 6 weeks to go they could lose to anyone. Ravens 6-4. Vikings 5-5. 'nuff said. mr. d i never said they were mathematically out of the playoffs, check your reading comprehension. i'm just saying we both know they're not making it so why torture yourself with this stupid math? please, show me one team in history that has started 1-8-1 or worse and made the playoffs? ya bootch i know but i decided to rank the other ones anyway.
Following Cleveland's win over the Bills last night, here are the current standings. AFC: 1. Titans 10-0, home field advantage, first round bye, division winner 2. Dolphins 6-4, miss playoffs 8. Patriots 6-4, miss playoffs 9. Bills 5-5, miss playoffs 10. Chargers 4-6, miss playoffs 11. Jaguars 4-6, miss playoffs 12. Browns 4-6, miss playoffs 13. Texans 3-7, miss playoffs 14. Raiders 2-8, miss playoffs 15. Bengals 1-8-1, miss playoffs 16. Chiefs 1-9, miss playoffs NFC: 1. Giants 9-1, home field advantage, first round bye, division winner 2. Panthers 8-2, first round bye, division winner 3. Cardinals 7-3, division winner, wildcard #1 4. Packers 5-5, division winner, wildcard #2 5. Buccaneers 7-3, wildcard #3 6. Redskins 6-4, wildcard #4 7. Falcons 6-4, miss playoffs 8. Cowboys 6-4, miss playoffs 9. Eagles 5-4-1, miss playoffs 10. Bears 5-5, miss playoffs 11. Vikings 5-5, miss playoffs 12. Saints 5-5, miss playoffs 13. 49ers 3-7, miss playoffs 14. Seahawks 2-8, miss playoffs 15. Rams 2-8, miss playoffs 16. Lions 0-10, miss playoffs
I see the Ravens fading away and the Pats/Fins/Chargers overtaking them for the last spot.....maybe even the Browns or Bills. Either way the Ravens will fade out of the playoffs IMO. After the game against the Cowboys...I'm not sure the Skins are as good as I thought they were and I don't see them hanging on to the last wild card either. The AFC north is up in the air still but I think the Packers are still the best team there.
you must mean the NFC North, not AFC North. come on, pats, fins (who we beat), chargers (4-6), BROWNS (swept by 28 points, and 4-6), Bills (lost 5 of past 6)? bullcrap. it'll probably be close with pats, colts, fins, ravens but bills are in downward spiral and browns will go away quickly and chargers shouldn't even be in this discussion imo.
Here are the current standings. AFC: 1. Titans 10-1, home field advantage, first round bye, division winner 2. Steelers 8-3, first round bye, division winner 3. Jets 8-3, division winner, wildcard #1 4. Broncos 6-5, division winner, wildcard #2 5. Colts - 7-4, wildcard #3 6. Ravens 7-4 wildcard #4 7. Patriots - 7-4, miss playoffs 8. Dolphins 6-5, miss playoffs 9. Bills 6-5, miss playoffs 10. Chargers 4-7, miss playoffs 11. Browns 4-7, miss playoffs 12. Jaguars 4-7, miss playoffs 13. Texans 4-7, miss playoffs 14. Raiders 3-8, miss playoffs 15. Bengals 1-9-1, miss playoffs 16. Chiefs 1-10, miss playoffs NFC: 1. Giants 10-1, home field advantage, first round bye, division winner 2. Buccaneers 8-3, first round bye, division winner 3. Cardinals 7-4, division winner, wildcard #1 4. Bears 6-5, division winner, wildcard #2 5. Panthers 8-3, wildcard #3 6. Redskins 7-4, wildcard #4 7. Falcons 7-4, miss playoffs 8. Cowboys 7-4, miss playoffs 9. Vikings 6-5, miss playoffs 10. Saints 6-5, miss playoffs 11. Eagles 5-5-1, miss playoffs 12. Packers 5-6, miss playoffs 13. 49ers 3-8, miss playoffs 14. Seahawks 2-9, miss playoffs 15. Rams 2-9, miss playoffs 16. Lions 0-11, miss playoffs notes: At 0-11, the Lions are the only NFL team mathematically eliminated from playoff contention....The Redskins are ahead of the Cowboys and Falcons based upon common opponents and conference records, respectively....The Browns beat the Jaguars, the Jaguars beat the Texans, and the Texans beat the Browns, so the order was determined by division record between the Jaguars and Texans, and the conference record between the Browns and the two AFC South teams (and the Chargers have the best conference record out of all the 4-7 teams)....This all, of course, will be totally different by Friday morning.
Here are the current standings. AFC: 1. Titans – 11-1, home field advantage, first round bye, division winner 2. Steelers – 8-3, first round bye, division winner 3. Lions – 0-12, miss playoffs notes: At 0-12 and 2-10, respectively, the Lions and Seahawks are the only NFL teams mathematically eliminated from playoff contention....The Browns beat the Jaguars, the Jaguars beat the Texans, and the Texans beat the Browns, so the order was determined by division record between the Jaguars and Texans, and the conference record between the Browns and the two AFC South teams (and the Chargers have the best conference record out of all the 4-7 teams).
Here is the Bears remaining schedule Week 13: @Vikings (Sunday Night Football) Week 14: Jaguars Week 15: Saints (Thursday Night Football) Week 16: Packers (Monday Night Football) Week 17: @ Texans Not the toughest schedule remaining but not the easiest either. Not to mention 3 of our final 5 games in primetime too. That remaining schedule will really find out what the Steelers are made of.
Yeah...If they can come out with a win over the Ravens and Browns, they're good to go. A loss to the Cowboys doesn't sound like a big deal because it's out of conference. I think they'll lose to the Ravens in Baltimore because they always do. I think they'll lose today if I were betting. But I think they could salvage one in Tennessee because the Titans should have their division locked up and may only play the starters part time and then the Cleveland game, is the Cleveland game...still not a gimme. That would give them a 10-6 record and that may or may not win the division, which brings it back to the Dallas game in Pittsburgh...that could prove to actually be a huge game if the Steelers lose today. Regardless, to be safe, they have to come out of this 5 game stretch 3-2...which would be 11-5. A win today would be nice because it would help with the wild card tie breaker over New England.
