id rather have eric wood....mack is no first round talent. hartwig sucked last year giving up more sacks than any center in the league
Mack is really really good. He will be an instant center for many years. *this is not a bias statement in any way, shape or form, even though I ran into him once in a while and saw him play every home game*
Here is a perfect description of how i feel about mack....ive never thought he was a great option. Unger is the best center in this draft, however he would not fit well on the steelers imo. Wood is what the steelers need, hes got the power to deal with the shaun rogers and vince wilforks that push hartwig around like a snitch highlighted is my favorite quote....its just funny if we want wood we will have to take him at 32 because the bengals and the browns both LOVE him and he will go to them early in the second. Not a sexy pick, but i think he would be great for a long time and the interior needs help and thats for damn sure...i know i said hartwig gave up the most sacks, but he also failed to get any push in the run game at all. Mack has heavy feet, is much weaker and i wouldnt draft him above the third at this point.
Eric wood is gonna be the best center, especially for us....the browns would have to take him in the second lol. and the problem i have with unger is he is kind of thin for the position and would need to add probably 10-20 pounds of muscle. He is better at pass blocking at this point in his career and was viewed as a good pass blocker at Oregon, but the system Oregon uses where all the QB does is rollout often makes their line look better than they actually are. I don't think he has a high ceiling and will probably end up as a pretty good back up utility guy. He would be best in a zone blocking scheme.... at this point if its not wood id rather just keep hartwig
see thats what i dont know, i think thats the factor that maks him a utility man, he played every position on the line at oregen, which makes him versatile.....90% of the time versatile means they arent great at anything
