According to contract figures on the NFL Players Association Web site, Jake Long has received significant bumps in his base salary for the next five seasons possible because an escalator clause in his original contract were triggered by his selection to the Pro-bowl in his rookie season. Long was originally scheduled to make a $3.75 million base salary this year. Now, its up to $6.5 million Source: Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel
Looks like he hit the jackpot... AGAIN... He wasn't even originally selected for the Pro Bowl, he replaced whoever it was. Not exactly the same thing... A loophole was found in his contract.
wow, good for him. i like incentive-laden contracts and long definitely played well in his rookie year and deserved some incentives to kick in so far.
well when you cash in as first overall and play up tp it to show your worth that cash you should receive incentive, theres alot of pressure to deal with and making the probowl as a rookie isnt easy
