The San Francisco 49ers announced that they have signed sixth-round draft choice TE Bear Pascoe to a four-year contract. Pascoe (6-5, 251) was a two-time All-WAC selection at Fresno State, where he played in 45 games (37 starts) and hauled in 112 passes for 1,294 yards and 10 touchdowns. He blocked a school-record six kicks during his career, ranking him ninth in NCAA history.

  2. Kinda shocking I guess. Do they expect Vernon Davis to walk soon?

Why do you say that? Pascoe was brought in primarily to replace departed billy bajema as a blocking TE.

yep, they will use pascoe in certain situations as a blocking TE and they probably see some places they can use him on special teams.

I agree. Bear was a great pick for the Niners. He will contribute immediately in short yardage and goal line. His strength is block. In two TE set they'll have Bear in blocking and allow Davis to go down field. This gives the Niners to use Davis' elite speed to stretch the field and make big plays. There is a LB in the league to who could stay with Davis and he's faster than most Safeties.
