Dolphins RB Ronnie Brown, 27, who is about to embark on the most important season of his career, already believes his name belongs with the league's elite runners. ''I definitely do,'' Brown said Thursday after the Dolphins finished their latest organized team activities session. "You got to have confidence on this level and, you know, if I didn't, I wouldn't want to be playing this game. So, obviously, when their names are brought up I want my name to be in that same group.''

I'd take him over a majority of the starting HBs in the NFL. I agree with this statement.

Before last season Brown showed flashes of incredible skills, his first two seasons were with the embarassment of Nick Saben, who compiled an offense with Gus Ferrotte as the QB and passed on Brees instead traded for an injured Culpepper. Then when he put it together, he got hurt making a tackle, and last season he ran behind an injured guard line and coulden't get any running lanes. If Brown can stay healthy, he can be a very very good back, possibly top 5.

When he is "on his game," he's one of the elite. I'd like to see a little more consistency from him...

Long can't stop the middle of the line from collapsing and causeing the RBs to dance away and not run downhill. Second if you remember before he got hurt Brown was the leader in AP yards. That is kinda good from an average back eh?

Did you see what he was doing before he got injured in 07?

He looked great until he got hurt and he wasn't back at 100% at all last year.

With a full offseason he should be back to his best which is up there with the elite IMO.

There's some names on that list that are debatable with Ronnie Brown.

    Thomas Jones
    Steve Slaton
    Marion Barber
    Jonathan Stewart
    Larry Johnson

IMO Brown is better than all of those backs...

yep, at the very least, you could put him on par with these guys. one of the things when talking about an 'elite' player is each person's definition of 'elite'. does that mean one of the 5 best in the league at their position? top 10? top 20? brown might be top 10 or top 20 at his position but it's hard to say for sure because the scheme they're playing in and the talent around them obviously greatly affects their productivity.
