Shawne Merriman is in the final year of his contract with Chargers. San Diego could place the franchise tag on Merriman at the end of the season, but the problem is that quarterback Philip Rivers is entering the final season of his deal as well. Another indicator that Merriman could be done with the Chargers is that they used the 16th overall pick on Larry English, who is expected to play outside linebacker. Source: FOXSports.com
eh, maybe. the chargers sometimes will figure out a way to keep their solid players. what i'm most curious about with merriman is to see if he can stay healthy and get back to the level he was at a few years ago. if he can't, maybe the chargers would let him walk.
Wow a Cowboys fan doesnt want a player that has been suspended for steroids, whats coming of this world
It's not about not wanting him, I'm sure the Titans would have loved to keep Albert, but when a guy wants $100 million deal, you have to decide whether it's the best thing for your team. And yea calling the guy that put together one of the better teams in the NFL as the worst gm is beyond laughable.
Wow you feel that strongly about Millen even being a Chargers fan. But come on man you no he never put together a good team. YES SARCASM
I respect your players, but can't stand AJ Smith, he has pissed of Phillip Rivers, Shawne Merriman, and LT over the years, not to mention his firing of Marty Schottenheimer...he has a big mouth and just wants everyone to know he is in Charge. IF you had a different GM you would probably have a Super Bowl ring right now.
With no Cam Cameron or Wade Phillips there was no point in keeping Shottenhiemer. The guy leaned very heavily on his playcallers in SD and once they got snatched up, with very little out there to replace them, the move had to be made. SD got royally hecked by Bill Parcells belatedly leaving Dallas. If Wade could have stayed to run the D, they would have been able to keep Shottenhiemer, who is pretty much soley a team manager
