Entering the final year of a three-year, $1.22 million rookie contract that included a $105,000 signing bonus, Ravens QB Troy Smith is scheduled to become a restricted free agent after this season. Although Smith ranks ahead of former Miami Dolphins second-round pick John Beck on the depth chart, the Ravens will have some decisions about whether he'll remain in Baltimore after this season. Smith deftly avoided talking about the prospects of playing in another NFL city. "The thing about it is being a part of this organization has made me who I am so far," Smith said. "We don't think about things like that. This team is what's most important right now and that's the way it's handled." Source: Carroll County Times
the dude has an NFL arm, i think he deserves a chance to start somewhere, but at the very least hes a great backup to have
He definitely deserves a chance, the only reason Flacco started this year was because Smith was sick. Obviously this coaching staff knows his talent if they're not willing to let him go so easily.
He has value as a backup, but with cam's familiarity with beck im scared they may faze troy out eventually, i hope not but i could see it happening
With no further ado - he does give us an interesting option in the Wildcat formation. Its a handy wrinkle to have and definitely makes it more interesting for the viewers.
