Finally, we could have an Eagles training camp where there aren't doubts about Donovan McNabb's future. That's because Philadelphia has reworked the starting quarterback's contract, giving him a raise over the final two years of his deal and guaranteed money for 2010, FOXSports.com has learned Thursday. McNabb was already due $19.2 million over the next two seasons, his new deal is worth $24.5 million over the next two seasons, plus an additional $1 million in possible incentives. Last season, McNabb threw 23 touchdowns and 11 interceptions on his way to leading the Eagles to the NFC championship game, where they lost to the Arizona Cardinals.

Why not an extension, though? Maybe that will come later.

Age and Kolb's contract ends at the same time. They want the option to go either way with them.

Exactly. They still have him at arms length.

It's an absolute win win for 5. IF in 2 years the team decides they are ready to go with Kolb or someone else then he can negotiate another 2-4 year contract with another team for another big payday. IF not he can negotiate another 2-4 year contract with the Eagles for another big payday

So his new deal is worth $24.5 mil., a $5.3 mil raise over 2 years... big whoop. It's no added commitment on the Eagles part. They basically said "here, shaddup", lol.

Sounds like they held off the extension because of the uncertainty of the cap in the future. That makes sense joe banner said he wants to keep mcnabb here and retire here so its a good sign.

Not happy with the deal. I'd rather an extension.

He probably will but they put it off cause they dont know what the future is there might be no salary cap.

It's definitely good for both sides...there's no downside to this deal at all...

I heard a couple idiot Eagles fans on the radio mouthing off about McNabb getting a raise for doing "nothing." :icon_rolleyes: I felt like jumping through the radio and strangling them twice...

ward - some people should be put down like a race horse with a broken leg. it's one thing to call out mcnabb for what he's done wrong but you can not take everything that he has done right and simply toss it out the window. the guy is one of the, if not the best qb to ever wear an eagles uniform.

I agree...hence the reason I want to strangle Eagles Fans when they say they want to trade or release or bench McNabb...:ranting:

Someone on CSN apparently said that the Eagles wanted to extend him but McNabb didn't want to do it.

Maybe he wants to wait until theirs no salary cap it makes sense. He said in his conference i want to retire an eagle and when the time comes it will handle itself.
