In this years draft there was alot of debate on who was the more valuable tackle to draft in round 1. Which rookie tackle taken in round 1 will have the most successful career?

I think it will be Eugune Monroe. I like both smith's but I give monroe the slight lead.

I also like Monroe here, the 1 guy I dont like at all is Andre Smith...I think Cincinnati took a real risk here with his questionable work ethic.

Monroe. I like J. Smith as well and I could see Oher being a nice player in the long run but I think Monroe will have the immediate impact. He's a mauler in the run game and he can pass block...great size.

I wonder if it was Mr.D who voted for Andre lol. I went with Monroe, he is in a very good situation with no real competition ahead of him on the depth chat.

oher would be my former choice but now that he has to deal with woodley i dont know.

monroe is blocking for a great run game and a QB that doesnt take sacks much...hes in a good situation

and believe it or not i think loadholt will KILL it at RT for the next decade for the vikings

Yea I think Loadholt at the RT position will be a beast. Espically with all the help he has on that line.

I actually like Loadholt alot myself, I'm surprised not more people are on either Smith's bandwagon, although I agree with it.

he wont ever be a LT but the supposed LTs in oher and andre smith are starting at RT, i just think for a pure RT loadholt will be a beast

I'll go Andre Smith or Monroe.

Wasnt a big fan of J.Smith and his concussions dont exactly prove me wrong..still dont understand why everyone became in love with his run blocking by what he did in shorts when in game situations he was pas sblokcing 90% of the time. And Oher is probably a life long RT unless he gets a trade, no knock on him but he's not Jared Gaither and a LT will always be more important than an RT - uinless its a lefty of course

  15. K Train

    K Train Do You Honeycutt?

oher>gaither and its not even close....they will probably part with gaither since he'll want top LT money and they have a better LT on their roster

I dont buy Oher > Gaither

Oher is a very good LT prospect, but Gaither is an unreal talent and came into the NFL very raw. Oher is a more refined player right, even with less NFL experience. But talent wise, Gaither is on another level

Oher could be a top 10 LT in the NFL. Gaither can be one of the top 2

oher=s*x on turf and imo will be a master of the position before long.

gaither is ok, good, solid LT....better than starks for instance but i dont think hes really an elite talent

Keep in mind how raw Gaither was coming out. True JR that hecked himself over, and would have been a top 5 pick if he kept his eligibility. Gaither still has alot of work to do, but he has the talent to be as good or better than Thomas, Long, and Clady.

To say Gaither will be a better LT isnt a knock on Oher, its just my opinion that once Gaither (who is only 23) settles into the LT position he will be one of the 3 or 4 best in the NFL

    **********Automerged Doublepost**********

Keep in mind too that Oher hasnt played much LT in the NFL yet.

Sam Young was very highly regarded heading into college (only Andre Smith was rated higher) and dominated as a RT his freshman year before they shifted him to his natural LT position

Ask any ND fan what they think of Young now and it will be some variation of "Massive piece of crap"

    sam young is white though

So is Jake Long and Joe Thomas

With race, I only discriminate non QB's that touch the ball with the exception of TE's
