Terrell Suggs has until July 15 to come to terms with a long-term contract with Baltimore, or the team's franchise-tagged linebacker will need to settle for taking his tendered one-year deal worth about $8.3 million for 2009. If the Ravens tag Suggs for the third straight year next year, they're looking at paying him the average of the top five salaried players in the league, regardless of position, which could be up to $20 million. Suggs, however, thinks something will get done to his liking very soon, making him optimistic he will be a happy camper when the Ravens resume training. "I feel like we're getting close," Suggs said via the team's official website. "Negotiations are going on with the Ravens." Source: SportingNews.com
Heard alot about this and it needs to get done - Sizzle is a true purple Raven and I can't even imagine him playing anywhere else in the future - totally worth the coin, his 2 one armed sacks in the AFC Championship game... come on.
with the questions the team has at cornerback it needs suggs to get pressure on the qb or atleast draw a double team so others can create pressure. personally i don't think the cornerbacks will be that bad, the team has pure speed on the corners with washington and foxworth, they just don't have a really physical cb thats proven. at present the team has 9 cb's listed, 5 should be a lock to make the team, washington, foxworth, walker, rolle and carr. webb is also listed as a corner even though he played safety in college, will be some interesting competition in camp.
I can't imagine this deal not getting done and I really hope it does. The last thing I want to see is this guy on the Jets....Get it done.....or come to NE...lol
