Michael Vick is back in the NFL and now all he needs is a team to play for. Vick, free after serving 18 months in prison for running a dogfighting ring, was reinstated with conditions by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday and he could participate in regular-season games as early as October. Vick can immediately take part in preseason practices, workouts and meetings and can play in the final two preseason games - if he can find a team that will sign him. A number of teams have already said they would not, once the season begins, Vick may participate in all team activities except games, and Goodell said he would consider Vick for full reinstatement by Week 6 (Oct. 18-19) at the latest.

The headline is a bit misleading, he is conditionally reinstated with a final decision coming at some point prior to week six. He can participate with teams at practice and in meetings and can play in the final two preseason games, but still cannot play on sunday until at some point Goodell fully reinstates him.

It was explained nicely in the article.

Headlines are for grabbing your attention, and this one sure grabbed mine.

So the Raiders or the Cowboys?

lol...that's exactly what the article says...

Vick's going to find a team and as long as he signs and "behaves," he'll be eligible to play for whatever team he signs with...their 5th game. That could be a 4 week or 5 week suspension depending on where the bye week lands. He won't go the full six weeks...for arguments sake, he's reinstated. It's just a matter of when he'll play.

Do you think he will be in NFL QB condition?

Not even remotely close. He won't be in any sort of NFL condition. Good News is, when signed, he'll be able to start working with a team and towards that "NFL Condition."

Two years is a long time to be out of football. If Goodell would've suspended him for another season, his career would be over. No one can leave the NFL for three years and come back to be competitive...it's just too long.

  17. When I heard about Vick playing again the first thing I thought was "Dear God please don't let it be the Panthers" but the more I think about it the more I like the idea of him playing with smith, williams, stewart, moose, gross, and the rest of our O-Line... I think he would bring a whole new look on the Panther's offense... I figure he throws about as well as Jake (Or did before he was suspended), and he can scramble a whole lot more than Jake... Also with Vick we could run a nasty Wildcat offense... So I am all for Vick signing with us now... And if he does play for us I promise I will be cheering louder than any one else... The man did his time, and he did more than any other "celebrity" has done when they were in trouble with the law... He has lost everything... Also you don't here a huge grumbling about Plaxico Burress being reinstated, and he came within feet of shooting someone... I'm just saying, and I'm sorry for my rant... haha

  19. Oh, and I know Burress is going to be out a while... He hasn't even been sentenced yet I don't think... All I was saying was that people are causing less of a commotion about him almost killing himself or someone else than Micheal Vick killing animals... I'm not saying what Vick did was OK...

Glad to see Vick getting a second opportunity from the comissioner and the league. This is just the beginning though. Now he has to get a second chance from a team and most importantly from the fans. I'd say a vast majority of fans here at this site will accept Vick back but I am guessing there are a lot of fans out there that do not want him on their team. No matter how talented he is. I don't think he's a good fit for the Steelers and I wouldn't want the distraction on the team. I think Ben's stuff will be more than enough distraction.
Best wishes Michael Vick....your road has just begun.
