Darren Urban of the Arizona Cardinals official website and ESPN.com's Mike Sando are both reporting that Cardinals rookie running back Chris "Beanie" Wells was carted off the field after practice this afternoon after suffering an undisclosed injury. There is no word yet on the severity of the injury. Wells just reported to camp today after signing a 5-year deal. Source: GridironFans.com
The one knock on him coming out of college was he was brittle.....first day in camp and he's already being carted off on the meat wagon? Helluva way to dispel the doubters.
wish I could find that thread....I said that Wells was not the best back in the draft....or the big ten for that matter. I hope Shonn Greene tears em up.
Wells, meanwhile, started with the third-string (Jason Wright was taking the backup role behind Hightower) and had his session end early with an apparent left ankle injury. Wells was carted from the field before the end of practice after his left leg was rolled up on during a play. His status for Sunday’s lone afternoon practice was unknown. eddie george never missed a game until his final and forgettable season in dallas and had 8 straight seasons of over 300 carries. Only walter payton had more consecutive seasons of 300+ carries.
Not too worried, anyone who injures a leg in flagstaff gets carted off, because of the distance he'd have to walk from the field to the facility. My guess would be he'll be day to day with an ankle sprain and miss maybe a week. Still sucks though.
