NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell notified WR Donte' Stallworth of the Cleveland Browns today that he is suspended without pay for the 2009 season for violating both the NFL's policy on substances of abuse and the personal conduct policy. On June 16, Stallworth pled guilty to DUI/Manslaughter, a second degree felony in Florida, resulting from a March 14 incident in which he struck and killed a pedestrian while driving under the influence of alcohol. Stallworth will be reinstated after the Super Bowl in February 2010. Source: NFL.com
Its fair hes lucky not to be in jail for a long time. I would hate to be in his shoes if i knew i killed somebody it would haunt me.
If you count the preseason he is going to miss almost as many games as he spent in jail. There is something wrong with that.
This isn't really news.... I'm sure if it wasn't a suspension it would have been an injury keeping him out the whole season.
Ouch, that's going to hurt the wallet. He's very lucky. Could be much worse. Ask PLax.. Time to hire a private driver..
The Browns should have released him just so all these headlines don't say "Browns WR Dante Stallworth....." I don't think Browns fans have ever viewed him as "Browns WR". They never got the chance.
This doesn't have a damn thing to do with the Browns. I'm glad Roger made an example of him. Even though I believe there was nothing he could have done differently (except not drive) he still needs to pay for his actions. Donte, Orlando has a new UFL team...come on down.
He was terribly overrated anyways, and didn't do much for the Browns. It looks like Massaquoi will fill in nicely anyways
yep, me too dawg. sucks the NFL had to step in to be part of the legal system in this case. Vick gonna get so much time away, and Stallworth just a few weeks.
