Aaron Rodgers directed two long touchdown drives before departing, and Green Bay's new 3-4 defense gave Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson fits in the Packers' 17-0 win over the Cleveland Browns in their exhibition opener Saturday night. Quinn and Anderson got their first game action under new Browns coach Eric Mangini. Quinn was better than Anderson, though both threw interceptions as Cleveland looked far away from improving on last year's 4-12 mark, committing four turnovers and seven penalties. I know the browns arent an "elite" team in the nfl...and its only preseason...but does anyone have any doubts about the pack this yr? :) Not i sir.
Man wouldn't that be a dirty snitch for Browns fans if BOTH these guys sucked! If they actually lost the option to say that Quinn is the answer after DA hecks up, that would suck for them!
i know this...there defense was awesome tonight...4 ints... and a shut out. Thats what im excited bout..
Yea but I wouldn't get too excited. Last season The Browns made NFL history when they were held without an offensive touchdown for the final six games of the season. The last team to go six consecutive games without a touchdown was the 1936 Eagles in the era before the forward pbutt.
But on the flipside, the Packers were missing their two starting corners, two starting backers and a bit of D-line depth. Not to say they were perfect, but it was a pretty good showing from them giving who they're missing.
Quinn looked fine. He moved the ball on both of the drives he had. A stupid penalty took a FG off the board on the first drive. He ran the 2 minute drill and hit Braylon in the hands in the back of the endzone on the play before the INT.
