Michael McCarthy of USA Today reports the NFL will try to crack down on binge drinking by fans at games during the 2009 season. Following up on the Fan Code of Conduct it implemented last season, the league office is making recommendations to teams about maximum serving sizes for beer, wine and spirits sold at games and about the number of alcoholic drinks a customer can purchase at one time. The league also is recommending that its 32 teams and 31 stadiums limit tailgating to 3 1/2 hours before games and attempt to better monitor and enforce rules against excessive drinking in stadium parking lots. My butt. The alcohol sales at home games probably competes with ticket prices. No way are they going to limit anything having to do with alcohol sales.
That is the real reason. Stop drinking all that store bought beer in the parking lot before you get into the stadium and we can charge you $8 a beer.
This hasn't been an issue at Arrowhead yet. We show up at 7 AM to wait in line for the best tailgating spots. Grilling and playing football while drinking beer is a right of passage. All those sober, hungry, non football catching whiners are just crabby.
This just reminds me of outrageous stadium prices. I went to the new Yankee Stadium last month and it cost me $15 for one beer and a slice of pizza.
At least you got REAL NY style pizza. And to be honest thats not that expensive compared to the prices at Arrowhead. I think we used to have a thread about the prices of concessions at NFL stadiums around the league. Is is still around? Can someone start one if not? I'd like to know the price of beer, food, and souvenirs from around the league.
They want to monitor how much beer/booze a fan can purchase at one time???? wtf??? I don't know too much people that would buy a crapload of beer just for themselves, no one enjoys warm beer....
Hi Sweets. My name is hermhater and I'll drink warm beer if it saves me from waiting an hour to get me a cold one. :)
It depends - I remember a game where my brother bought out the beer guy in the 3rd qt... then a guy in front of us poured brandy in all of our extra beers! It was very good in a warm beer on a cold rainy Sunday :icon_cheesygrin:
well no wonder the league wants to monitor the drinking then, freaking lushes like yourselves spoiling it for everyone else...:lmao:
Oh I love it! I think they need to concentrate more on the people driving home from the game while hammered
In Buffalo you can only buy 2 beers at a time inside the stadium and no beer sales once the 3rd quarter starts. How much more could you curb it? Are they gonna cut me down to 1 beer at a time? The lines would be outheckinragious.
This is not shocking at all. It's one beer per customer at Soldier Field and has been so for the last year or two. So they wanna cut tailgating to 3 1/2 hours before game time huh? Eventually, tailgating before games around the league will be banned one of these days sadly. With the way tailgating is getting ruined would explain why I don't go to Bears games anymore.
