The size and number of drinks I can see - but the amount of time people can tailgate seems like it might be A) tough to enforce and B) a bit silly. There are better ways to curtail that kinda bullcrap.
All the cameramen are waiting for Tiger to golf with Obama today up at Martha's Vineyard. Would not get much coverage. I know people who show up at 6 am for a 1 pm kick. But, I do not tailgate on a stadium lot!
wonder if the NFL will start to regulate, how many times a fan can go to the toilet before/during a game....
Tailgating is half the time* the best part of going to a Raiders game *by half the time, I mean all those times they do not get blown out in the first quarter.
i could give two craps what they do about beer sales in the stadium as i never buy it anyway. this ai ALL about money. no matter how they try to spin it. the issue i have a problem with is the cutting down of tailgating. they think cutting it to 3 1/2hrs will stop binge drinking ??? are they serious ? if anything it will increase the bringe drinking as people will still try to down the same amount in less time. i mean if they were truely worried about people driving home drunk you wouldn't sell beer at games at all. the drinking affects from before the game are pretty much gone by games end if you dont keep drinking in the game. heck you Godell, stick to suspending players and don't worry about me, i am responible enough, i don't need your interference.
That wouldn't be shocking, lol. **********Automerged Doublepost********** I rarely bought a beer inside Soldier Field. You would need maybe only one hand to count the number of times i've bought a beer inside that stadium. Honestly, while watching the game inside the stadium, I take the time to sober up. **********Automerged Doublepost********** The tailgate rule can be enforced if they wanted it to. All the stadium parking would need to do is see someone waiting well before the parking lots open and then call the cops and they will come and chase everybody out of line while waiting to get into the lot, it's been done at Soldier Field before. **********Automerged Doublepost********** I was thinking that when I first saw this topic, lol. After all, this is Roger Goodell we are talking about here.
You know the reasons they won't do it are green. They would miss the money, Budweiser and other brewries pay for the commercials and I can't see them paying for commercials, while they can't sell beer at the stadiums
The limit of alcohol per customer inside the stadium is understandable BUT what cracks me up is them trying to control the binge drinking outside the stadium, good luck with that. So let me guess... A security guard is going to come up to me in the lot and tell me i've had too much to drink and that I can't drink the beer I have in my hand. FREAK YOU!
Stadiums in urban and downtown settings already can and do limit tailgating. Whereas stadiums in more isolated or rural areas seem to have more of a free-for-all atmosphere.
Starting around 2004 is when they starting enforcing the rule of opening the lots no more then 4 hours before game time at Soldier Field. The no tailgating in the lots surrounding the stadium during the game rule was the icing on the cake for me to go to no more Bears games.
We used to have fans that would go to the games just for tailgating and tailgate in the parking lot during the games and watch them on TV. Not sure if that's gonna be allowed anymore with the new stadium, but I'll be pissed if they stop opening the gates at 7:30
There is a lot about a mile and a half from Soldier Field that you can tailgate in during the game. So thats where I ended up tailgating last year. To sum that lot up, that lot is a NEVER AGAIN and i'll leave it at that.
