The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Monday that Chan Gailey has been relieved of his duties as offensive coordinator. Gailey's status with the club will be addressed by head coach Todd Haley following the conclusion of today's practice. Gailey originally joined the Chiefs in 2008. Source: KCChiefs.com
LMAO! A coordinator fired during the preseason? Is this the first time any NFL coach has been fired during the preseason?
Wow.....This is going to be awfully tough for the Chiefs at this point. Cassell down and the OC out right before start of the season. In a year that looked like a good rebuilding year things just got harder.
I just don't get this. Changing to a new system now? Haley is doing things his way now and that could be very different than the way things were run by Gailey.
Exactly. There has to be some more behind this, wouldn't you think? Just very odd timing to fire a coach that's been around the league a while. Very odd.
Even the Raiders laugh at that management style. Firing your OC on August 31, wow. ps I hope twinky Jauron gets fired before week 1.
Well it wasnt Chan's system...so its not a big loss like some ppl are thinking it is. Just gives Haley a more hands on with the players. Could be a plus if Haley felt things werent going right.
I am unable to open the link here at work, I think it will come down to one of two things, 1) Chan has some type of health problem. 2) Haley wants to pass more than Gailey, who is more of a run first guy.
