New England Patriots defensive lineman Richard Seymour has been dealt to the Oakland Raiders, NFL sources told ESPN. In return, the Patriots get a 2011 first-round draft pick, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Seymour, 29, spent the first eight years of NFL career with New England. Source: ESPN.com
WOW!!! BB must be confident in someone else at DE and also be sure they wouldn't resign Seymour. All in all it's a good deal though, Seymour has been injured a lot it seems lately, and that will be easily a top ten pick next year that BB will parlay into multiple picks
awful move by Raiders. seymour's play has decreased the last three seasons. he only has one year left on his contract, and he is injury prone. Not to mention the Raiders gave up a first round pick for him, and the pick will prob be a top 10 overall.
Great deal for the Pats... They'll get a Top 10 pick out of this deal... The Raiders continue to boggle my mind...
That is a massive uprade for us on the DL. Its a 2011 draft pick BTW not next year so a top 10 pick is far from guaranteed.
I did originally think it was a 2010 pick, but 2011 makes a lot more sense economically with the potential uncapped year next year
The Raiders haven't signed him to an extension yet. So technically Seymour could play 2009 in Oakland, become a FA and sign elsewhere in 2010 and the Radiers would still send their 2010 1st rounder to NE.
The only player that the pats have lost on defensive side of the ball over the past few years that hurt them was when they lost Samuel, and the loss was marginal.
