The legendary Dallas Cowboys quarterback whose ice-water-in-the-veins cool earned him the nickname "Captain Comeback" called a surprise audible Monday afternoon when asked about Emmitt Smith's dour 7-9 prediction for the upcoming season. "You know, I love Emmitt but I feel a lot different about this season," Staubach said. "I'd say 12-4, our favor." Staubach, the Hall of Famer who led the Cowboys to four Super Bowls in the 1970s, also disagreed with Smith on the prospects for Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. Source: Scott Farwell, DallasNews.com
the defense was atrocious sunday its early in the season so there is time to make adjustments...12-4 is not out of the question.
Why do they keep asking former cowboys this question? I think any teams former players will give them a good record in the begining of the season for the most part. The cowboys offense looks pretty good but the run D is probably something to worry about.
I have to agree with BITB on this why the hell is it news for retired Cowboys to make a prediction on the season. Aikman, Moose and Woody I can understand since they are talking heads on TV but, even though I love the man how much involvement in the NFL does Roger the Dodger have now a days? As far a Smith I am just happy that he did not say they were going 9-9 or something like that.
The problem witht he cowboys is this, they push the throttle down against the giants or eagles and then don't show up for the other games. The Running display they showed against the Giants was an abbiration. Soon they will be dealing with 8 guys in the box and Crayton and overhyped Roy Williams will actually have to get open. On defense they have looked awful the past two weeks. That something that the team should be concerned about.
Well you guys sure could have used Randy White and Ed "too tall" Jones. I remember watching comeback Staubach back in the day. It was simply amazing just knowing he was going to win the game somehow.
