Brian Westbrook's long-term security apparently isn't as long as he had anticipated. A revision in the five-year, $32 million extension the Philadelphia Eagles running back signed last August indicated the $7 million option bonus due in 2010 wasn't exercised by the team, according to multiple sources. By not exercising the $7 million bonus, Westbrook's contract ends in 2010. Source: ESPN.com
Of course they didn't and by not doing it they have guaranteed he will have a HUGE year and sign elsewhere. :icon_evil:
I'd rather have an amazing year, then a great year, then a really good year, then a good year, then retire a Philly hero
not going to happen. mccoy will hopefully be ready to go as the starter by then. it's how they operate.
exactly thats how they do it........sometimes as much as we want our fav players to retire with our team it dont happen
Got nothing but respect for Westbrook... but as a Giants fan it's nice to see a possible end in sight of a division rival having one of the best players in the game (when healthy). McCoy has potential, but good luck living up to what Westbrook was.
i agree with most of the philly fans on this one. if they can get a couple of more great seasons out of westbrook, they probably will and should let him walk. the eagles are typically pretty smart about knowing when to let someone walk and i trust they know what they're doing. let's keep in mind westbrook will be 32 years old in the 2011 season. with the wear and tear on him through the years, i will be amazed if he can still walk down the sidewalk in the year 2011, no less continue to be a top 5 running back ................
