Steelers Will Not Run The "No Huddle" Offense Full-Time

The Steelers could run their no-huddle offensive exclusively, offensive coordinator Bruce Arians said, but don’t because they are, well, the Steelers. “We still want to maintain some Steelers football,” Arians said. It’s not that it couldn’t be done with the growth Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has made in the no-huddle while working closely with Arians in that phase of the game. “That package has tripled in size now and it’s damn-near the whole offense,” Arians said. “It’s evolved to where (Roethlisberger) can almost use 80 percent of the playbook in it and he’s gotten very proficient in it. We’re not the K-Gun or Jim Kelly but we could be very easily.” Roethlisberger, Arians added, is not the only one comfortable when the Steelers go to their no-huddle offense. “A lot of times I’ve had quarterbacks who could play that fast but the other 10 guys couldn’t so you couldn’t use it,” Arians said. “The other 10 guys are playing at the same speed (Roethlisberger) is in the no huddle, which makes it works.”

How freaking stubborn, this offense is 200% better when we are in the no huddle and that's the passing and the running game alike. Ben is a way better play caller then Arians.

Looks like we will spend another season winning in spite of Arians.

Which isn't a bad thing. Win me another Super Bowl and the man is a genius!

I don't think it'd be a very good idea for them to use it "all the time" because those No Huddle 3&Outs take like 4 minutes (real time) and send the defense right back on the field - Buffalo against NE last week towards the end of the game was a pretty good example of what can go wrong if you're not successful.
That having been said Ben handed us our asses a couple times last year when he switched to the no huddle - I like is as a option rather than the standard.

I agree with you there. I like using it as a package here and there, but not all the time...

They don't do it unless it's under 2 minutes. If its so successful why not do at least 1 drive a quarter.

I seriously doubt any team could run the no huddle all the time and be successful. Players just can't keep up that kind of pace and play calling will suffer too many mistakes.

Peyton Manning seems to do it with no problem every so often...

In the same token, the defense has to keep up and they can't make subs.

Yes he's the best at it I would say but even Peyton can't run it 100% of the time.

I wouldn't want to see it 100% of the time. Less than 2 minutes is a given and then I wouldn't mind seeing them spring it up here and there...like maybe Sunday against the Bears?

True that's why I used the term "players" instead of offense. :icon_cool:

OK ward lets not let this good thread go down the toilet. :icon_cheesygrin:

You don't have to worry about that, this thread isn't ran by the Bears front office.

You don't know how much I despise the Bears management so I have to agree here. Sounds like you know them well also. :icon_cool:

it wouldnt be good to run alot because like any scheme it can be stopped.
I like the idea of using it when needed an keep our gameplans diversified for each team but knowing we can go to it when needed!

Maybe if we had run the no huddle a couple of times in the last two games we would have a better record. I do not recall seeing any. It would be nice to use it as a change up and get some more points on the board. It appears that scoring 20 or less points is just not going to get it done. Besides I am tired of having heart attacks during our games. I am exhausted by the end of the game.:icon_sad:

The Defense needs to show up in the 4th quarter...that has nothing to do with the 2:00 offense.
