This was a big topic about the giants before the season and on sunday the receivers looked really good. What do you think of the giants group of receivers so far? Do you think its a sign of things to come or was this weeks performance just dallas having weak defense?

I think smith is a good one. manningham is just at a good point in between bong hits.

Manningham has looked good two weeks in a row now. He could be stepping it up and it looks like Steve Smith is making more of a name for himself than "The Other Steve Smith."

I still think that right now, they are below average as a whole...

I think hixon sucks mario should start over him. If hakeem nicks plays well this season along with mario and smith they could be pretty decent. One thing thats gonna make the receivers better is how much time eli has. It seems like hes back there all day no corner could stay on a receiver that long.

Mario could be a very nasty WR, but I think he could be a problem in the NY media if he ever becomes an established #1

For right its a " Get back to me in 4 weeks" thing

So far, so good. Last week the Giants had their first game ever where 2 receivers had double digit catches. It was also one of Eli's best games. We never had separation like this with Plax and Toomer.

Smith and Manningham currently lead the NFL in recieving yards for a WR. Soo technically right now, they're the best in the game

Here's the real deal about the Giants wide receivers, they were thrown to the wolves last season when Burress went down. They had Hixon running Plax routes and put all their eggs in the running game. So when they had to pass, teams were sitting on it. It also didnt help that Hixon and Smith dropped some pretty big passes last season.

What a difference minicamps and preseason makes. The Giants coaching staff had all offseason to work in new plays and a passing game tailored to this recieving corp. Smith is on his way to being an excellent possesion reciever and Nicks can get the yards after the catch. he is a physical reciever. Manningham has big play ability written all over him. His problem last year was he started the season with an injury and honestly just didnt have good work ethic in him. He forgot routes and where to line up etc. This offseason he worked with Manning and worked hard to get himself into that rotation. I think he is the real deal. He's got great speed. I mean he beat out the two Dallas defensive backs on the big play action pass from manning in that game.

The other part of this whole equation is the Giants offensive line is giving Manning all day to throw. Not to mention most teams will continue to stack 8 men int he box and they will keep getting beat by smith, boss, hixon and manningham. Sooner or later the running game will start to get back into it. If these wideouts continue solid play, the giants will have no offensive weakness.

I am intrigued to see if Manningham is really becoming a Boldin level yards after catch stud type WR of there have just been one or two too many missed tackles that are making him look like a stud. I suspect the later.
Smith is what I thought he would be. Real good, not great. Do they have any other healthy receivers?

Healthy WR's, not really haha. They have sinorice moss but he's not very good. Nicks should be back in a couple weeks, so we should be tough to stop then

I'd say at the start of the third year "Real good" is a pretty freaking good sign. Although, I'm sure your saying it as if he's peaked, as if "Real good" was some kind of backhanded compliment.

About Manningham, he's pretty damn slippery and he's made some big grabs other than slipping tackles. But were are only 2 games in.

All I have to say is hope you're right, about both players. It's supposed to be our weakness, we are supposed to be rebuilding the receiving corp...

sometimes you have make defenders miss tackles, which is exactly has happened with manningham

i think when nicks comes back, more than likely that could be next week, I would move him ahead of hixon. The only thing Hixon has on Nicks is speed.

I guess its pretty evident that Steve Smith is the go to guy. He's got great hands. Todays game agaisnt the Cheifs, he was pretty much automatic. Manningham has to get his drops under control, his speed and route running are good. He just has to get those hands under control. I think we saw what Nicks can do. He's not the fastest but he is physical. The Giants have the potential to not only have one of the best running games but one of the best passing games too.
