To avoid knee jerk reactions, and koolaid induced praise, Im gonna ask for this every two weeks What are your thoughts on the team after the first two games? **********Automerged Doublepost********** Big Positives: The offensive line has played close to 2007 form. The Giants got some pressure, but it wasnt constant durress and the running block has been better than Ive seen since the LA days The backs have been better than advertised. Before injury Barber was playing at top level, and Jones look great against NY. Choice hasnt gotten many carry's, but I dont see much of a drop off Big Negatives Our secondary has looked terrible. Now our blitz has been errative and sometimes inneffective ( some pressure on Manning, but not durress) but something needs to get unhecked I havent been impressed with the WR's, and its looking like we will be draft one in the first in the offseason. The TB game they looked ok, even with the big play's, but alot of that was Romo. Austin has done nothing other than his 40 yard TD, and Williams was absent in the NY game (heck they all were) There is alot that can go either way at this point, so Ill leave some stuff alone until later
I think we have played good but not great. It took awhile to get started against the Buccs and Romo kept shooting himself in the foot against the Giants. The OLine I do not think has allowed a sack, while the defense has not gotten a sack. The offense seems to be able to run the ball well but might need to run more often. The passing game is not going to be like it was with TO. I know that we had 3 big pass plays against the Buccs but that was because of brown coverage not the offense. I think they need to work Choice in there more, which should happen with MB3 out. Our pass defense has been bad but our tackling has been worse. I do not know what to think about Romo. He had a nice game against the Buccs, not trying to force too many passes. Against the Giants even when he did not have any pressure he made some bad throws. The one deep I think was a bad read and a bad throw since the WR never had a chance to catch the ball. The other two were bad throws but were not bad reads.
Offense: Week 1 the passing game was hot, and unstoppable. We played a younger Bucs D with not much experience though. Week 2, the passing game was atrocious. Week 1 the Run game wasnt so great, week 2 it couldn't be stopped. I would say we need to come out running against Carolina, run first, pass 2nd.. with, or without Marion. Let the run open up the pass, and rely on your Defense... which brings me to it. Defense: The run defense wasnt too good against the Bucs, but it wasnt all that bad either. The Run D against the Giants was amazing. Maybe the best it's been in a long time. The Pass D, is not there. we have a better chance of our opponent letting us know they're passing, and have our DB's walk off the field... maybe the ball will slip out of one of the WR/TE's hands, and our Dline/LB's can pick it up. The only plus headed into week 3, is that Jake Delhomme has thrown 6 int's so far this season. We need him to have at least 8 by the end of the game. We need to play more man, we need to get lined up and press the wide outs, and we have to get more pressure. Antwan Odom has more sacks then our entire team. The only plus with that is the Bucs and the Giants Oline aren't bad in the least. The celebration for the new stadium is over, the closing of Texas Stadium is in the past. there is no T.O drama, but now the media and most of our fans are giving us T.R Drama, we don't want it, don't need it. If you are a Cowboys fan, shuddup and support your team. If you can't do that, then you need to find you a new team, because that crap is not wanted here. All we have to focus on now, is each team, each week. We got Carolina on MNF this week, we need to go in there, and punch them in the freaking face, and take our victory. I don't want to see us barely get by with all the talent we have. Let's make it happen.
I'm going to be brief cause I don't have alot of time. Positives: Less Penalties than in previous seasons. Ground Game + Oline solid Ratliff Jenkins Offense Run D (played bad in TB cause they didn't know what to expect from Cadillac) Negatives: Defense almost every aspect 0 Ints & 0 Sacks Safeties, they've provided little help in pass coverage Lack of touches for Felix All our defense had to do was make a stop and we would have won that game, I think the offense did fine. 1 fluke pick. A bad deep ball thrown, which was probably garretts fault for thinking we would catch the Giants D sleeping and he'd have single coverage deep, that was really a deflating moment cause we we're well on our way to getting a 2 score lead in the game. The offense moved the ball quite well despite Romo struggling a bit. They had alot of trouble stopping our attack. I thought Jenkins was the only CB to play well, Newman has got burnt deep against TB and now NYG maybe he's lost a step.
IMO i think we are still the same team from last year except minus TO ...and that scares me bc we can pretty good but we are our own worst enemy. our running game is good but garrett want to throw it URG our CB are getting schooled by the unknown WR that everyone thought were going to be a problem or pass rushin non exisitent
I have several mixed emotions on this team. Offense The running game and Oline look great!! I'm impressed. Maybe they are starting to buy into Houcks coaching. If we can keep this great running game going we may not have to rely on our passing so much. Garrett's play calling still bugs me. We were running ALL over the Giants, yet he had Romo still passing. I'm not hugely impressed with our wide receiver corps, however, I think they are a solid group. If we can get Romo to settle down we will be ok. He is another story. When he is on, he is ON!! But when he is off, he is OFF! We need him to find a happy medium when everything isn't going his way. Defense Where do I start? This unit scares me! We have NO sacks and NO interceptions. I am beginning to think letting Ellis go hurt us more than we thought it would. Yes, he was a whiner, but he made production. The secondary looks awful!! We couldn't cover Fat Albert. We are making average QBs look awesome. With no pressure and no coverage, it could get ugly. The run defense really adjusted and did awesome against the Giants though. So overall, its hard to put a finger on this team. To me they have the potential to either 8-8 and they also have the potential to go 10-6.
