Its been such a weird 2 weeks the first week the offense barely had to play because the special teams and defense put them in great situations. The 2nd week was total opposite kolb managed the game pretty well but the defense and special teams put him in really bad situations and the picks in the 2nd half were because he was trying to force it. The defense looked completly diffrent from week 1 to week 2 yea it was the high powered saints but thats no excuse. One thing that bothers me is that we are passing the ball so much only 40 carries combined with shady and westbrook in the 2 games. They made kolb a first time starter air the ball out way to much even though he did pretty well for the situation he was put in. I dont know what to think alot of ? for this team. I dont think we will know where this team stands until after the bye with mcnabb back. We should beat KC pretty easily and go into the bye 2-1 i could live with that.

Here's the big problem with the Eagles that I see already. Their secondary cannot handle physical receivers and are not good in coverage. If the defensive line and LBers arent getting to the QB they are easily picked apart. Not that Drew Brees doesnt pick any secondary apart. The eagles actually have and undersized Dline and they really dont generate much pressure with just their line. Obviously thats why they like to mix up blitz schemes with Lbers and defensive backs. Losing Stewert bradley was a big loss. And when they do blitz they are spread really thin especially on short passes. I still think they have a good defense. On offense, you just have to closely watch Westbrook's health. Maclin and McCoy are good pickups but just rookies.

Obviously, you have a stud in DJax. He's solid what more can you say, outside of him though Kevin Curtis and the others are not really a big threat. If Westbrook isnt doing his thing other teams will just roll a safety over DJax. It is true what they say about Westbrook, as he goes so do the Eagles.

I have to completly disagree on the defense part one game does not make your team. The first game steve smith was being shadowed the whole game. Asante and sheldon are fine in coverage there actually one of the better CB duos in the league just look at the numbers from last year.

obviously this guy didn't see the Panther game at all. Constant pressure from just the Dline. And to say the Eagles DB's aren't good in coverage is a ridiculous statement.

Brees just gets rid of the ball right away, the passes to the backs and TE's and quick outs and slants to the WR's were killing us. When he had to wait for a long play to develop, we were on him. Don't just make assumptions on a box score or some highlights.

Guy, they were getting beat all day by Brees. They do not play well against physical recievers, case in point look what Boldin and Fitz did to them in the playoffs. They Shadowed smith with a CB and a safety over the top. Its tough for anyone to catch balls like that. That Panthers game, Jake D couldnt get the ball to anyone, well because he isnt that good and their oline sucks. You can make anyone look like a good DB in those circumstances. Look what the Giants did to the Patriots int he superbowl, that secondary was not even decent.

Yes I am a giants fan but my two brothers and surrounding neighbors are all eagles fans and they agree that this year the secondary is not as good as years past.

    **********Automerged Doublepost**********

I watched the whole game and saw him put up throws all day, weather it was quick passes or not they beat your DBs all day. Obviously any Qb that doesnt let the ball go quickly will start getting pressure on him. Thats obvious. And guess what the box score showed that Brees was sitting back their with an xbox 360 controller doing whatever he wanted against your defense. 40 something points, tell me how you get a bright spot on your defense giving up those points?

The only diffrence is brian dawkins which wasent good in coverage anymore. The defense was the best in the nfc last year. We were top 5 against the pass as well. Go ahead and judge our defense on one game where they kept getting put into bad situations cause of turnovers.

    **********Automerged Doublepost**********

If you watched the game did you see it was 17-14 at the half and then the turnovers starting coming giving the saints great field position?

and great defenses make stops and it didnt happen in the second half, actually the saints putting up that many points in the second half is worse. Brees completed 25/34 passes. You sacked him twice but he pissed on your blitzes. Call me crazy but that tells anyone that he had your secondary in check.

Last year is last year, this is this year. No one is saying the eagles have the worst defense in the NFC, i think they are the second best team in the NFC. But you are without Stewert bradley and that is a big loss right there.

Yea they dident show up this week not gonna defend there play but i think it will be fixed. Week 1 the defense was amazing 5 picks 5 sacks. Also i dont think the eagles sink or swim with westbrook like you said. LAst year westbrook sucked against the giants and vikings and mcnabb carried the team to wins.

Eagles are a blitz heavy team just like Dallas and NY. One of the drawbacks to blitzing is that you can get killed with quick short pass's by an experience top notch QB that can think fast

  12. SweetShot03

    SweetShot03 Fuck stupid people

Brees is a tough QB to defend against...... he is able to see the blitz coming and to get rid of the ball and still make a good play out of a bad situation.

Let's say you were right on both accounts (which you aren't)... you are saying the Eagles secondary doesnt play well against physical receivers because they got beat up by the best QB in the NFL who is on a ridiculous hot streak, and the most talented WR combo in the game?

the problem isnt the secondary not being able to cover or stick physical wideouts. not that we excell in that dept but that wasnt the issue sunday. in fact the db's were playing too far off the wr's to have any problems being pushed off.

the biggest problem was scheme. the saints put in the same basic gameplan the cards used in the nfcc game last year. biggest difference is mcdermot didnt make the adjustments.

also, just to clue you in as well as some other in here, unlike in the panthers game we barely blitzed so i dont know where you're getting that brees pissed on our blitz. we may have blitzed 5times (most were in the 1st half and were succesful) if you're lucky which is a huge reason brees had the time he did. there were many plays were he didnt get rid of the ball quick and had all day to throw it. mcdermot played it careful and tried to drop guys back in coverage and it blew up in his face.

bottom line is the entire defense sucked butt sunday, from the coaches to the players to the guys that hold their gatorades.

Eagle defenders never play well against physical recievers. I sat and watched as fitzgerald and boldin pissed on Dawkins, Samuels and others in the playoffs. I saw it when the Giants had Burress. Most DBs dont play well against physical recievers on any team. Last week Brees exposed it even more.

All I heard up until last sunday was, Brees wont be able to do what he does against our secondary and he did. And yes I am right, I have eagle fans on other boards and whom I associate with, tell me the same as what i've said.

    **********Automerged Doublepost**********

Brees against the Eagles blitz was 6-6 for 97 yds and a touchdown

Brees wasnt lucky, he always fares better against the blitz. Not only that but the saints had a 3rd string LT starting in replace of a pro bowler and he kept the pressure off Brees. Which goes back to my earlier point that without the Blitz the eagles cant generate enough pressure from their front four. Brees had the LBs and DBs on their heels all game. Hey im fully expecting Brees to generate the same agains the Giants in week 6 and the eagles have a better DB than the Giants even though Kenny Phillips and Webster are absolute studs. Giants aren't that far behind intheir secondary. It's injuries that have spread them really thin. Bottom line is this, no one is saying the Eagles dont have a good defense, they do. They are a 10-11 win team but that also depends on what you get from BWest this year. If he's healthy, they have as good as a shot as any team

and you're just as wrong, because we barely blitzed in the panther game and were all over delhomme. You insinuate that we blitzed all game against brees and got pissed on and by your own account we blitzed 6 times. thanks again spin doctor.

Thas kindof a surprise. I know they have Bunkley and Patterson, but the Eagles to rotate DL and Laws is a quality, high motor player

Or do they just Rotate DE's?
