Ben Roethlisberger did not seek the permission of Steelers coach Mike Tomlin before agreeing to guest host a pro wrestling event next Monday and the Pittsburgh QB doesn't appear to have a problem with that. Roethlisberger and some of his offensive linemen will appear on WWE's Monday Night Raw next week, one day after their game against the Chargers on Sunday night. "I mean, it's our off day," Roethlisberger said, via the Beaver County Times. "I talked to (Tomlin) about it. I didn't really ask for his permission. I talked to him about it to get a feel for if he was going to have a big problem with it. I figured he tell me. But like I said, it's our off day." On Tuesday, Tomlin acknowledged the wrestling date, but wasn't thrilled. "I'm aware of it," he told reporters. "I just don't have a comment at this time." Source: USA Today
Well, it's not like he's gonna be in the ring or doing anything physical, right? I can't believe he would put himself in harm's way like that. If he's just simply showing up, then I really don't see a problem with it.
It's not a problem, he's going to be in no harm at all.. he's just there as the General Manager, which means he will " make " matches, and boss people around for 2 hours. Sure he'll prolly get a wrestler in his face talking trash, but someone will save the day and that'll be all she wrote in terms of physical play. **********Automerged Doublepost********** PittsburghLive.com is reporting that Max Starks, Trai Essex, Justin Hartwig, Chris Kemoeatu, and Willie Colon will be joining Ben Roethlisberger in hosting Raw this Monday night.
It's not a big deal...it's after a game on his day off... But why the WWE...it just doesn't seem right...
Isn't it in an NFL players contract that they can't have any physical contact should they appear on any wrestling event anyway?
He Won't be. **********Automerged Doublepost********** it's just where WWE has the "Celebrity Host" for Raw now. He's been known for attending the WWE events that go near pittsburgh, hes been backstage and hangs around.. so its just he's a huge fan, and that apparently offered this to him. No way he would pass it up i dont think, especially knowing he doesnt have a chance of being injured
he's there to promte some sort of chirty foundation, and he;s a fan. i'm sticking to my word here.... wwe > head and shoulders
Was Shaq in the middle of the NBA season, when he did it? That's the only reason people might have a problem with it in Ben's case. Either way, it's still not a big deal.
nope. i disagree. it IS a big deal. it pretty much destroys the respect i had for you. WWE? are you serious? c'mon man, i would expect more out of you ............... or maybe i shouldn't ..........:icon_confused:
As long as there are no team functions, games, or practices that Big Ben has to be at on monday night, I don't care what anyone says, I fail to see how this is a big deal.
yeah same here. to what you want with your own time, especially if given the opportunity to do something you've always wanted too. **********Automerged Doublepost********** if they do lose the chargers though, it will be easily blown out of proportion just like Romo playing Golf in the off-season.. they're not " focusing ".
Yea, that's the only risk here. Gives the conspiracy theorists ammunition is all. As long as he expects the possible heat & can take it if it comes, N/P...
