Cowboys cornerback Terence Newman said that Denver wide receiver Brandon Marshall grabbed his jersey on the touchdown catch that gave the Broncos the win, 17-10. "I could have swore it was going to be a penalty at the start," Newman said. "He grabbed my jersey and threw me to the side. If that wasn't a hold, I don't know what is. I tried to grab him back. I figured either way, we were both going to be called for a hold. The refs didn't see it. I tried to go up and get the ball and keep playing. He just made a great catch and bad tackling on our end....There was nothing I could do about it at the beginning of the play. He grabbed my jersey and he threw me to the side. You can put that on any clip in the NFL. It didn't get called. He grabbed me, so I tried to grab him back. I went up for it, and all I know is he had the ball. It's one of those things where it didn't happen for us...I thought I did a good job on him all day. If he doesn't grab my jersey, the ball is going the other way, I guarantee you that. He grabbed my jersey, tried to play the football, that's it." Source: Dallas Morning News
Yeah, I thought so too. But you don't see me whining and crying about it, do you? Ohh, and that happened after my brother (a Broncos fan) was whining all game about the Cowboys having the refs on their side :icon_rolleyes:
I was at work all day so I missed all the games and can't comment on the actual calls. I will say I don't like these stories about players whining about the calls after the game.
I saw it, Marshall gave him a jerk at the line. Should have been a penalty, sure... but you let Denver be 1st and 10 at your 50 yard line under 2 minutes. The non-call penalty is the least of reason why you lost the game, Newman.
excuses, excuses is all I here with this team just face it Newman you're not good. **********Automerged Doublepost********** The snitches come out and complain after loses.
This. There's also no excuse for us not tackling with as many chances as we had after he caught the ball.
interference or not that is still no excuse for having a gang of defenders around him and still letting him into the endzone
there was a lot of contact between the cb's and wr's on both sides yesterday in that game. most of it was good play by the cb's and i think the officials did a good job of letting the players play for the most part.
I have to say I did not like the way the Refs called the game yesterday. There were calls on both teams that I did not see and others that I did. Over all I do not think that the calls changed the outcome of the game. The score might have been hire but that is about it.
