The Saints have run the Wildcat formation in practice with running back Pierre Thomas throwing passes. However, Jeff Duncan of the Times-Picayune write that "if they use it, it would be strictly as a trick play, not as a staple or part of their regular offense." Thomas has 212 yards and three touchdowns on 33 rushing attempts this season after missing the first game of the season and playing sparingly in the second but he has never attempted a pass in his three-year NFL career. with Brees as your QB why the heck would take the ball out of his hands and line him up to even possibly get hurt. For the Dolphins, ok, for most teams, yeah, but not the Saints, you have Drew Freaking Brees, you idiots.
heck that, punt every other play and fake punt the other plays. If you are going to take the ball out of your best players hands, you might as well go all the heck out.
Sean Payton knows that. I am sure that the Saints aren't planning on taking the ball out of Drew Brees' hands. This will be run a couple of times a game. If there is a new offensive scheme out there, Sean Payton can't resist it. The Saints' offense is good because of Drew Brees, but also because of variety. You don't see any one Saint running back or any one Saint WR piling up big numbers because they spread the ball around. Also, don't be surprised if the Pierre Thomas pitches the ball to Drew Brees out of the Wildcat formation and Brees throws the ball down field.
