The Bucs aren't for sale. But if they -- or another NFL team -- end up on the market, there's a famous name in league circles who's interested in buying. It's former 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo. "If a situation came about with something as close as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, I would be a moron not to at least look into it and be somewhat interested," DeBartolo, a Tampa-area resident, told the Los Angeles Times. Bucs co-chairman Joel Glazer angrily denied a report that the team is for sale on Thursday, but DeBartolo, out of the NFL since 2000, told the Times he would like to get back into the league. I don't see him getting his foot back in the door in the Goodell age of image consciousness. His dirty dealings with former Louisiana governor Edwin Edwards are just the kind of thing that Goodell would kick to the curb in today's NFL. The NFL may not say it publicly but it was bad enough back then for it to be a black eye & they sure wouldn't want to deal with it all over again IMO.
