Jay Cutler was sore and a bit black and blue and the Bears certainly took a beating during the win, particularly the guy behind center who also happens to carry the franchise's long-term hopes in his right arm. This wasn't what Chicago envisioned after retooling the offensive line in the offseason, but Cutler wasn't about to lash out at the guys who are paid to protect him. The Bears' offense ranks 20th heading into this week's game against Arizona, and the problems go beyond the line. "It's a mixed bag," Cutler said Wednesday. "I've got to get rid of the ball. We've got to throw our hot (routes). It takes more than just the offensive line blocking. It's all 11 guys. We're in it together." Source: Associated Press
Let's see...'retooled' (*translation* "we didn't know WTF we were doing") OL, rookie receivers who are still learning how to run routes let alone learning what a hot read is, an OC who knows plays but not how to apply them during a game, & a GM who thought he'd done a fabulous off season job. Somehow the term "mixed bag" never entered my mind...:icon_rolleyes:
Naahh, he takes his share of responsibility. I wouldn't mind him laying off the standard 'we're all in this together' mantra & start kicking a little butt. Maybe not in the press as much as on the field.
I didn't get that out of this article. I thought he came off that way in the preseason, and after the first loss to the Packers. But this time it sounds more like he's saying it's everyone. He even said he needed to get rid of the ball faster.
