49ers Won't Switch To A Spread Offense With QB Alex Smith

The 49ers are not going to all of a sudden segue into a spread offense with Alex Smith in shotgun formation spraying the ball around on every play. "No. No. Not at all," offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye said. "If that were in fact true, and we were going to take this deal and flip it 360 degrees and become a shotgun, throw-it-up 48-50 times a game, we'd have to do an awful lot of changing."

Do it, make him perform.

 

Since the running game isn't going anywhere, the shotgun spread is worth a shot.
