Looked like a fumble and a San Diego recovery...calling Smith down and on the review, that's what it looked like. His knee looked down. Should be Giants ball imo.

 

Yet they continue to be in the conversation with the "elite teams" in the league...clearly they aren't...

It doesn't look like he ever caught it...

 

They won't have enough to overturn the call on the field, has to be a catch and down.

 

So to recap it looked like a fumble that was after Smith was down on a play where he didn't catch the ball.
