Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is expected to play Sunday night against the Baltimore Ravens, even though he got knocked out of the Steelers' 27-24 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. A source close to the situation said Roethlisberger did well in a series of neurological tests Monday. The source said Roethlisberger did well when he took the Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Test (IMPACT), which is used to determine the severity of head injuries in the NFL.

Ben is making a mistake by playing this sunday night, because the ravens will go after ben and will not let up.

I do NOT want to see Dixon tested for the first time vs the Ravens.

But you want to see your franchinse QB gambling with his freaking brain - series of nerological tests my ass, if they had a decent backup and this wasn't a divisional game they'd sit him. We all saw the shot he took.

I agree they would sit him if Batch was not hurt....I don't want him to "gamble with his brain." I was just stating the obvious that Dixon starting vs. the Ravens would be a total debacle.

That is a fine point, I just really don't like the idea of him on the field so soon after getting a concussion (because concussions are like seperated shoulders or broken ankles) because the league would freak if, God forbid, he were to get clobbered and get some permanent damage.
And my stake in it is that I don't want somebody on my team to be the guy who hits Ben Roethlisberger so hard he goes blind because he was already playing with a recent head trauma. It just doesn't seem very responsible to me.

Did they officially rule his hit as a concussion? If so, then I'm stunned he'll be cleared to play. The leagus has been extra cautious with concussions lately.

I hope he's truly ok if he does play. He's had major head trauma just a few years ago and has taken numerous hits on the field.

Disagree...if the guy has a severe and lingering concussion, he's not playing no matter who the backup QB. Frankly, the shot he took didn't look that severe compared to other ones that have caused severe concussions...

"Mild Concussion" or concussion like symptoms during the game. Monday he had no ill effects...

I think if the Steelers were unsure about his status a little bit, they would've signed someone with a little more talent than Tyler Palko...lol.

Sounds like he's going to play and with concussions under the microscope, the "mild concussion" could not have been that serious. Regardless, Roethlisberger's got to be smart and slide feet first.

He doesn't wear a skirt and is a large guy. It's not usually an issue...just caught someone's knee in the melon this time. The non sliding is part of what makes Ben, Ben. Not afraid of contact or extending the play by laying his body on the line. He does need to be a bit smarter about it this week for sure, as the Ravens will be gunning for his noodle, but he won't really change his style of play IMHO.
