Sources have revealed to Pro Football Weekly that a representative of the McCaskey family reached out approximately 10 days to two weeks ago to a potential intermediary of a former NFL head coach to gauge what might be involved financially - and in other areas - should the Bears have interest in making a coaching change and pursuing that individual. The Bears have adamantly denied the report, but our sources continue to say that the contact did indeed take place. Further clarifying the situation, our understanding is that the coach the Bears inquired about was former Steelers head coach and current CBS commentator Bill Cowher. Source: Pro Football Weekly
Even though I don't have that much of a problem with Lovie Smith, at this point, I'm pretty much in favor of any change that gets this franchise back on track and maybe Bill Cowher is the answer.
