Raiders Could Deal Top Draft Pick For Pro Bowl-Caliber QB

Al Davis will attempt to trade for a Pro Bowl-caliber quarterback so that the Raiders have a better chance of making the playoffs next season, in turn, JaMarcus Russell will get more time to work on his shortcomings. At this rate, the Raiders figure to have a top-10 draft pick to dangle as trade bait, along with enticing young players such as running backs Michael Bush and Darren McFadden, as well as veteran defensive lineman Richard Seymour. There's almost no scenario that points to Russell's being jettisoned.

Well if another team has a pro-bowl QB on their roster they aren't going to trade him unless they are stupid as Al Davis is. But atleast he realizes he doesn't know how to draft good players, but it will be harder to drag the good ones away from other teams.

Maybe when Favre retires again he can coax him out of re-re-retirement.

Any QB that has a 'No trade to Oakland' clause in his contract would probably invoke it.

Any QB that doesn't have a 'No trade to Oakland' clause in his contract, should probably put one in!

Yeah, trade a top pick for a franchise QB. That worked out real well for chicago.

The Raiders don't trust themselves with their own picks, and are better off trading them for 'proven' players.

The realistic possibilities I can think of are:

McNabb or Kolb - McNabb would probably have more value, but are the Eagles willing to go with Kolb. I don't think the Raiders would trade a 1st for Kolb, but it is the Raiders so who knows.

Matt Hasselbeck - He'd injury prone and the Seahawks aren't a good team at this point, but would the Raiders want him?

Chad Pennington - He's got a weak arm and suffered another arm injury, not the ideal guy but the Raiders might be desperate.

    The sleeper pick:
Jay Cutler - The Bears might be regretting this trade, are they willing to wait it out or do the Raiders give them an offer too good to refuse. Cutler's got a strong arm, perfect for Al's go deep philosophy.

Any others you guys can think of?

I'm sure the Dolphins would as well. I'm not sure if Al Davis is that stupid though but I can't say I'd be completely surprised if he did do something like that.

Well he does have a good trading relationship with the Dolphins while Tuna has been here. Maybe it would be Pennington and Ginn for a 1st.
