NFLE is NOT NFL though. It was little more than a larger ST stable to keep players for the teams and see if they can grow into the game. Definitely not the same caliber. Even the CFL is considerably better than the NFLE ever was.
Again. It's not that Jacksonville doesnt' care about it's team, it's that the city is generally broke. No one has the money to SPEND on Jacksonville tickets.
Problems with LA: 1. No one really cares enough to support a new NFL team, they've already tried it and it's failed. 2. A lot of people who live in LA are transplants, and the ones who do like football generally stay loyal (they do in SD). 3. Like already mentioned the team would need to stay long enough to build a fanbase. Really the Raiders and maybe the Chargers are the only ones that might have enough of a fanbase, but no way will Charger fans become Raider fans and vice versa. So you're limiting your fanbase there. 4. It's likely any owner would have to give up partial ownership, is there an owner desperate enough to do that? I doubt Al and Spanos would, they both want to keep the teams in the family, at least the Chargers do. Really LA fans want an Expansion team and that won't happen. Really the only way it works is if they get a great team there and the bandwagoners hop on early on until there is a big enough fan base. Otherwise it'll be a failure, again.
most of the time, i agree with your assessments Blazer but i'm going to disagree on this one. jacksonville has struggled to build their fan base there because too many people in that area were already attached to other nfl teams. first off, florida has a ton of transplants so many people are fans from new york, pennsylvania, etc. secondly, it is too close to tampa bay, atlanta, and miami. most people don't just switch allegiances from a team they may have been following since birth. the nfl made a mistake putting a team in jacksonville, whether the economy is good or bad.
