ESPN's Adam Schefter reported this morning that head coach Andy Reid and the Eagles are "very close" to a long-term contract extension and that the deal could be announced as early as this week. Reid's current deal goes through next season, but since training camp, it appeared unlikely that the Eagles would allow him to into 2010 without some kind of deal in place. Joe Banner has said all along that one game, or one season, does not change the organization's view of Reid. "Andy could have a bad week, have a bad year, and that wouldn't change the fact that he's in the upper echelon of coaches in this league, and we feel lucky to have him," Banner said during a TV interview in October. "So, at whatever point, I'm sure that that issue will be resolved." Source: Philly.com
This is the biggest love hate relationship in the league. The Philly fans can't make up there fukin minds and love to hang him out to dry when things aren't going great.
Winning solves everything all the rumors of wade phillips being fired originally and now that there winning you dont hear it anymore
I'm totally one of those fans. The guy drives me nuts at times with his play calling and decision making. At the same time, I remember the days before he coached this team and how horrible those years were.
I was gonna say the exact same thing. He gives us reasons to pull our hair out, but at the end of the day we usually have a contender to root for. Smeagle's gonna be pissed when he gets extended.
nah, i have come to grips with it. besides we could do MUCH worse. there is a ton of potential with this team and it's young talent. if he can put aside the pride at crucial times we could have parade very soon.
I HATE Andy Reid. Never was a fan of his dumb crap play calls or his clock management failures. (Super Bowl XXXIX) But he will be resigned because Lurie loves him meaning McNabb will stgay here for 3-4 years. so if this happens Kolb is never gonna start here.
Reid needs an OC who isn't afraid to run the ball, in fact who knows how to run the ball. He gets talent but he needs help making the Eagles a better balanced team.
